About Maite
I am a licensed psychologist (LP) with 7 years of experience supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities. I specialize in anxiety, mood concerns, attention difficulties, grief, relationship challenges, and performance-related stress. Many of the clients I work with are seeking greater self-understanding and practical tools to navigate life’s challenges while building confidence and emotional resilience in a supportive, affirming space.
I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology from National University. My work is grounded in evidence-based care and draws from cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic frameworks. I take an integrated, collaborative approach that is informed by real-life experiences and tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals.
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially during times of uncertainty or stress. I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable, understood, and supported as we work together to build insight and skills that extend beyond our sessions. I would be honored to walk alongside you in this process.

"Having navigated my own experiences with anxiety and life challenges, I bring real-world understanding, warmth, and humor into therapy to create a comfortable, authentic space where clients feel supported and less alone as they work through life’s hard moments."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
My own experiences with anxiety and sport-related trauma inspired me to become a counselor and support others facing similar challenges. I find deep meaning in connecting with people, helping them feel seen and supported, and making a positive impact as they work toward healing and growth.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are curious about themselves and open to the process, even if they feel unsure or nervous at first. You don’t have to be fully ready—just willing to take a brave step and explore what therapy could offer.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Healing isn’t linear. There will be ups and downs, moments of growth, and times that feel like setbacks. You won’t do it perfectly, and that’s okay. Progress can look messy and take time, but showing up, making mistakes, and staying curious are all signs that real change is happening—and learning to trust the process is part of the healing itself
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, I aim to keep things conversational and relaxed, giving you the chance to get to know my personality and how I show up as a therapist. I’m open about my style while also gathering the information I need to best support you. From the start, we’ll work together to create a flow and space that feels right for you and leaves room for genuine, human connection.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Honesty, respect, and a nonjudgmental attitude are central to how I show up as a therapist. I believe we’re all human, doing our best to navigate life, even when we don’t have all the answers or make mistakes along the way. Growth often comes from being given space to reflect, take accountability, and try again—while being met with understanding rather than judgment. My background in sports has shaped my belief in the power of connection, collaboration, and working together toward meaningful change.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy using an integrated, evidence-based approach designed to meet each client’s unique needs. I believe therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, so I actively listen to feedback and adjust when something isn’t working. I aim to model openness and accountability by acknowledging mistakes and staying willing to learn alongside my clients.
