About Gilbert
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 42 years of experience in clinical practice. I enjoy working with adults, couples, and families to help them navigate emotional and relational challenges. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their experiences, gaining insight, and developing new coping strategies. My goal is to help each client strengthen self-awareness, achieve balance, and foster emotional well-being.
I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California. My therapeutic approach is solution-focused and grounded in family systems theory. I integrate empathy, education, and constructive feedback to help clients identify areas for growth, improve communication, and manage mental health challenges effectively.
Finding the right therapist is a personal and meaningful process. Taking the step to seek support reflects courage, self-awareness, and a desire for growth. I encourage you to reach out and begin your journey toward healing and emotional balance. Together, we can build a trusting partnership that supports your goals and well-being.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have always been drawn to the helping profession. By nature, I find it fulfilling to help others in need. Having experienced my own family of origin dysfunction and trauma, I was intrigued to study and learn about human psychology. My personal life aspiration was and has been to pursue a career in mental health counseling.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with adults. couples and families. I take a systems approach in working with a client be it an individual, a dyad (marital couple, parent/child, adult siblings) or a nuclear family (family of origin).
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Therapy can be uncomfortable; however, it is powerful, healing and rewarding!
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Our first session is getting to know one another, establishing rapport, defining the therapist/client relationship, obtaining psychosocial background information and formulating goals to achieve in treatment.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I value self-determination in a client. I meet the client where they are at and provide professional guidance to address the problem areas a client wishes to work on. My role is to actively listen, be non-judgmental and create a safe place for a client to engage, self-disclose and trust the healing process
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor my therapy by engaging a client to explore and identify the areas of personal growth they desire to work on. I typically will contract with a client for a few sessions, (2-4), check in, evaluate our status, conclude or negotiate for more sessions to continue working on personal issues. It is important for a client to know that therapy has a beginning and an end. If an identified problem is resolved, therapy comes to an end. If a client finds value to continue, therapy proceeds with the goal to attain resolution.
