Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I became a clinical psychologist because I realized early on that helping people is a sustainable way to feel good. There are many avenues to fulfillment, but helping others and seeing someone get better and happier is definitely one of the best feelings one can have. I grew up with a lot of suffering around me and always wanted to alleviate the suffering of others.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
What you can feel, you can heal!
What inspires you?
What inspires me is when I see clients feel better.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect to learn about how their emotional issues and functional impairments are a result of what is happening in their brain due to their genetics, current stressors, lifestyle, and developmental experiences. They can also expect to laugh a lot!
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to provide hope that s/he/they will get better!
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
Get ready to learn things about your brain, how this is creating your difficulties, and how it can be changed to make you feel better!
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
On my time off, I ride my bicycle around my neighborhood and I take scenic drives. I also, at times, play The Last of Us 2 on PS5 although I limit my time playing to 30 minutes so I don't feel bad wasting too much time:).
