About Mykal
As a licensed professional counselor, I have educational backgrounds in Sport & Exercise Psychology and Counseling Psychology from working with youth through professional athletes. I am a Certified Personality Disorder Treatment provider and am currently pursuing my Mental Performance Consulting certification. I have worked in private practice and community mental health with children, teens, and adults, addressing depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, and relationship conflicts. Currently, I work with individuals motivated to improve their mental performance, career development, financial psychology, identity, and wellness.
I enjoy helping clients identify their strengths, build confidence through thought-provoking questions and exercises, develop coping skills, and accept uncontrollable outcomes. I use mental performance strategies and positive psychology to build resilience and self-esteem so clients can craft new narratives and grow through difficult circumstances.
My goal is to provide a safe, judgment-free space where you can talk freely about your concerns and work through them to increase your well-being. You are showing positive steps by reaching out. I look forward to helping you find creative solutions, empowering your self-esteem, building new pathways of success, and sustaining meaningful purpose in your life.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
After experiencing my own personal struggles with identity development and unexpected life transitions as a former Division-I college athlete, I was exposed to the realities of mental health struggles including anxiety and depression at a young age. After engaging in counseling for myself to navigate and overcome my personal issues, I focused on pursuing a career to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in order to be a support system for a wide variety of individual.
What types of clients do you work best with?
My type of clientele are curious, proactive and willing to explore the depths of their own humanity in order to effectively improve their desired behaviors, thoughts, choices, relationships and life transitions. The type of clients I work best with understand that growth is uncomfortable, but not impossible due to developing a mindset that allows them to understand their flaws and transform them into strengths.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I would like people to know that you do not have to wait until life is full of adversity or negativity to seek help. Being proactive and intentional with prioritizing one's well-being allows for the processes of change to become fun, engaging and challenging in a positive manner.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Clients can expect positive, non-judgemental and supportive experiences within the first session when working with me. The early stages will focus on building rapport, gaining insights and evaluating the desired goals of counseling services.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Due to my background working with highperformance individuals, I enjoy helping people who are accountable, consistent, engaging and open-minded to exploring various areas of their lives. As a former athlete, I utilize a team-oriented approach to my practice and encourage individuals to optimize their skills of resilience, psychological flexibility, adaptability and process-oriented work ethics.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I believe each client holds a unique story, background and capabilities that need to be tailored to develop the best outcomes that align with the client's values, goals and expectations. I enjoy leading with StrengthsBased approaches to provide insight into individual's strengths and areas of improvement in order to accomplish their desired changes.
