Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I have always enjoyed building up individuals. I absolutely love helping to develop self-assured, confident individuals who are able to face life's challenges head on. There will be good and bad days and things totally out of our control. What's important to know is that we can control our responses and change the way we view our situations/challenges.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I have seen great success with individuals who struggle with self-esteem and identity issues. Mostly women between the ages of 20 and 45 but also males within the same age group. I have also worked with countless individuals in the geriatric population with chronic medical conditions.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
That they are stronger and more resilient than they know!
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks is well established in 48 states and they offer Telehealth. I enjoy telehealth because it makes therapy accessible to incredibly busy individuals or individuals who prefer to receive therapy in their own setting.
What inspires you?
Readiness for change.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
A very down to earth person with no judgement whatsoever. I see my role as a supporting my clients in accomplishing their goals.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
To get a good sense of presenting symptoms and to identify what it is my clients want to accomplish in therapy.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
That we will have dialogue and conversation during each session. Sometimes I will challenge you to reframe your thinking but that's what growth and change is all about (being challenged to do things differently).
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy traveling, watching movies, and spending quality time with my husband and three-year old son.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
My faith and integrity.
