About Paulette
I am a LCSW licensed in 1989. Much of my career has been spent with military members and their families affording me with knowledge and insight into the complexities of military service. I have worked extensively with depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief. I understand the burdens these painful circumstances bring. I believe in meeting clients where they are with compassion and empathy, and I believe in the indomitable human spirit.
As a LCSW, I've had years of training in multiple methods of working with trauma including CBT, DBT, CBT-PTSD, ACT, Ego State, and EMDR. I believe in the worth of every individual and no two experiences are the same. I believe empathy, respect, and a nonjudgmental approach set the stage for positive client outcomes.
In choosing to engage in therapy with me, I hope you will find warmth and acceptance, a listening ear and understanding heart. Once you engage, you will find the process fluid, with you in charge of your goals and outcomes while I provide tools, support, feedback, and encouragement along the way.

"As a professional woman, mother and grandmother, I have navigated many life circumstances and challenges which contribute to the well rounded education inherent in a mental health career."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I chose to study and enter the mental health field because I have a sensitivity and compassion for those struggling with the demands of the human experience. I do not believe individuals or families are defined by their problems or difficulties. I believe in identifying strengths and applying tools to overcome symptoms of emotional distress.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Adults - 18 years and older
Older adults dealing with life transitions, Couples, Trauma survivors
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish everyone knew and understood seeking therapy is not a sign of weakness or brokenness, but a positive healthseeking behavior designed for improved problem solving, self acceptance and life satisfaction.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
The initial session will include a detailed social history and early sessions will continue to build on that information and establish a therapeutic relationship. Trust will grow throughout those initial sessions opening the way for the transformative work to proceed.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
As an individual coming from rural Arkansas, I have an understanding of the unique dynamics of the rural communities. Coming from a family who emphasized the importance of education in achieving life goals, I have shed biases and misunderstandings about people not like me in lifestyle, race, ethnicity, culture and background and family dynamics I continue to enjoy learning all I can about how others live and navigate their life journeys. I approach each session not just with knowledge and skills, but with curiosity and respect for the strength the client brings.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
Before formulating a treatment plan of my own making, I will listen intently for the goal the client brings to the encounter and tailor the ensuing plan to meet those goals, reevaluating along the way to ensure we are on track in meeting their stated needs.
