Get to know Ellen
Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I decided to become a counselor because healing and growth are beautiful things to witness, and to achieve.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I hope all my clients know that they are doing their best, they've been doing their best, and they are brave for trying to do better.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks provides many ways to reach clients where they are in a thorough and secure manner.
What inspires you?
Truth, change, and witnessing people find meaning in their lives.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect to meet with an attentive professional who can answer their questions and begin to establish a foundation for the treatment trajectory. Clients can expect to feel heard, supported, and for their concerns to be met with empathic urgency.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session, I want to accomplish informed consent, and to ensure that my client has no or few questions left on how the therapy and scheduling will work. First and foremost, I want my client to feel safe and to feel that they can start forming a therapeutic relationship, which I understand takes time. In the first session, I want my client to feel confident that they will be able to address what they need to without being judged.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy being in nature, painting, crafting, and visiting friends and family.
