I am a licensed therapist with 16-plus years of experience in community mental health, community crisis assessments and ER psych assessments for level of care. I have worked with clients faced with challenges of severe mental illness, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, low self-esteem, lack of motivation, anger, grief, and interpersonal conflicts.

My counseling approach is grounded in my belief that our mental health and well-being are based upon self-awareness, self-acceptance, overcoming resistance to change, and making helpful choices. My endeavor is to provide a safe space to help people enhance their self-awareness and motivate them to make helpful choices that minimize self-sabotage.

Where there is a will, there is a way." If you have a will for helpful change and growth, I welcome you to schedule an appointment such that we can partner in finding the road to your personal growth. "God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

"I perceive myself as an open - minded, empathic individual with appreciation for the uniqueness of every individual grounded in the belief that each of us is a product of our experiences and choices with a potential for growth and positive change."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I started my career as a teacher and students would often reach out to me with their individual challenges . I discovered that it was gratifying for me to help them overcome their challenges without judgement and it aligned with my personality traits and values. I believe that if your work is an end in itself rather than a means to en end alone, you will tend to work to the best of your potential and it will be meaningful to you and for society.

What types of clients do you work best with?

Clients with low self esteem, anxiety, depression, unhelpful belief system/choices.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

Mental health/healing is a function of self awareness, acceptance and openness to change. Therapy is collaborative and is not restricted to mental illness but is an instrument for personal growth.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

A safe ,non-judgemental space to share their challenges/obstacles, anxieties and motivation for change.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

Being the daughter of an officer in the defence services, I was exposed to change of location, differences in culture, norms, diversity in various forms and teaching styles. I appreciate that normality differs from place to place, society to society and time to time. Change is the only constant in life. I also discovered that my self image, academic achievement, mental health and output were impacted by the democratic/ authoritarian styles of teachers and conducive/ hostile environments. I was able to achieve higher, strengthen my self concept in a facilitative, democratic environment where teachers provided a safe space, motivated, validated and inspired me to work towards maximising the use of my potential without fear of judgement. These personal experiences inspire and shaped my self expression and practice as a therapist.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

Therapy is meaningful when it helps clients reach their personal gals and to help facilitate them to overcome their challenges. To be effective , therapy needs to be tailored to meet the unique goals of the individual. It is crucial to gain understanding and to help the clients develop awareness of the client's motivation to seek therapy, their intra/inter personal dilemmas, strengths, personal/material resources and support systems.
