About Wendi
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with 8 years of experience providing psychiatric care. My background includes inpatient and outpatient behavioral health care, as well as experience working with geriatric patients in long-term care settings. I specialize in medication management and support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, personality disorders, and autism. I also work with clients navigating substance use, trauma, parenting challenges, caregiver burnout, and major life stressors. My goal is to create a supportive environment where clients feel heard and understood.
I earned my master’s in nursing from Shenandoah University. I provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management through both in-person and telehealth visits, while taking a holistic approach that considers medical, lifestyle, and emotional factors that may influence mental health.
I believe the best outcomes occur when clients feel supported and actively involved in their care. Whether you are beginning your mental health journey or seeking ongoing medication management, I strive to provide compassionate, collaborative care that helps you move toward improved well-being and stability.

"I understand that it can be a difficult decision to seek medication for mental health concerns, and I consider it a privilege to work with every client as we navigate the ups and downs of life together."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a psychiatric provider as a young adult based on personal experiences, along with witnessing the experiences of close friends and family. From the time I decided I wanted to work in mental health, I have have progressed in years, and life has given me more opportunity to experience both suffering and healing. Although we can never fully know what any one individual is experiencing, I think it helps to have an empathetic provider offering support along the way.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Women
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
It's a messy and imperfect process. It works best when it is your own personal decision to seek help.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
During our first session, I will ask a series of questions about your life, from early childhood until present. I will ask your reasons for seeking psychiatric support. If appropriate, I will prescribe medication. I may order lab work to be completed before medication is started, and/or I may want to meet again to gain a better understanding of what you are experiencing before prescribing medication.
hat personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My Christian faith background guides my practice as I see each person as equally valuable and worthy of care and healing.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
Every client is unique and enduring different circumstances. I strive to hear and understand each person's individual experiences. I believe this approach helps my clients know that we are working on their plan together.
