I am Dr. Rose Ehichioya, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with 16 years of experience in mental health and psychiatric care. My background includes psychiatric nursing, forensic mental health, healthcare administration, and nursing informatics. I provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and patient-centered care for adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, mood disorders, and substance use concerns. I take an individualized approach, partnering with clients to develop a treatment plan that promotes healing and quality of life.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized, focusing on the whole person rather than symptoms. I combine psychiatric assessment, medication management, psychoeducation, and supportive therapy, with a focus on women's mental health. Clients can expect to feel heard and respected while building coping skills and confidence to move forward.
I understand that reaching out for mental health support can feel like a difficult first step, but you do not have to navigate it alone. I am here to listen without judgment and support you with compassion and understanding. I welcome the opportunity to walk alongside you as you seek relief or meaningful change. "As a compassionate and experienced psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I believe every person deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported, and I am committed to creating a safe, judgment-free space where you can heal, grow, and regain control of your mental well-being."
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I chose to become a psychiatric provider because I believe mental health is an essential part of overall wellbeing, and no one should have to struggle alone. Through my years of experience caring for people with mental health challenges, I saw how compassionate, individualized care can transform lives. I wanted to be in a position not only to listen and understand, but also to provide evidencebased treatment, education, and ongoing support that help people regain hope, build resilience, and live healthier, more fulfilling lives. For me, being a psychiatric provider is both a professional calling and an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people I serve.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with adolescents and adults who are seeking compassionate, nonjudgmental support for challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, PTSD, traumarelated concerns, and substance use. I especially enjoy working with individuals who are ready to better understand themselves, develop healthier coping strategies, improve emotional stability, and make meaningful changes in their lives. I also work well with clients navigating major life transitions, relationship or work-related stress, and women experiencing mental health concerns related to reproductive and midlife transitions. My approach is collaborative and individualized, meeting each client where they are while helping them move toward greater stability, confidence, and overall well-being.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish every client knew that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness, and that healing is a process rather than a destination. You do not have to have everything figured out before reaching out for support. With the right guidance, patience, and willingness to take one step at a time, meaningful change is possible.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and judgmentfree environment where I take time to listen and understand their concerns, history, strengths, and goals. We will discuss what brought them to treatment, explore current symptoms and challenges, and begin identifying the most appropriate treatment approach. In the early stages of care, I focus on building a trusting therapeutic relationship, providing education and practical strategies, and developing an individualized plan that may include therapy, medication management, or a combination of both. My goal is for clients to feel heard, respected, and supported while taking meaningful steps toward improved mental health and overall well-being.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is grounded in compassion, resilience, respect, and the belief that every person deserves to be heard and treated with dignity. My years of working with individuals and families across diverse psychiatric and healthcare settings have taught me that each person’s story is unique and that meaningful healing begins with trust and understanding. I bring a culturally sensitive, holistic, and patient-centered perspective to my work, while recognizing the importance of meeting people where they are without judgment. These values guide me in creating a safe space where clients feel comfortable sharing their experiences, exploring their challenges, and working collaboratively toward greater emotional well-being and a healthier, more fulfilling life.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor treatment to each client by first taking the time to understand their unique experiences, concerns, strengths, values, culture, and personal goals. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I collaborate with each client to develop an individualized treatment plan that reflects where they are and where they want to go. I consider their symptoms, life circumstances, preferences, and readiness for change while incorporating evidence-based therapeutic strategies, medication management when appropriate, and practical tools they can use in everyday life. Throughout treatment, I regularly reassess progress and adjust the approach as needed so that care remains responsive, meaningful, and focused on the client’s goals.
