About Lois
As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with eight years of nursing experience spanning multiple specialties, I bring a broad clinical perspective to mental health care across the lifespan. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma-related conditions, mood disorders, burnout, and difficult life transitions. My approach is compassionate, holistic, and rooted in evidence-based practice—combining psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and supportive therapy to treat the whole person, not just symptoms. I partner with each client to build personalized treatment plans centered on resilience.
I earned my Master of Science in nursing from Walden University. My approach is collaborative and individualized, combining comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and thoughtful medication management with psychoeducation, mindfulness-based strategies, and strength-based coping skills.
If you've been carrying more than you let others see, you don't have to do it alone. I offer a warm, respectful, judgment-free space where we can identify patterns, build practical tools, and restore clarity and confidence. When you're ready, I'm here to help you take that next step toward meaningful, sustainable change.

"I approach mental health care with humility and cultural awareness, recognizing that each person’s journey is unique and deserving of individualized, holistic support."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a psychiatric provider because I’ve seen how profoundly mental health impacts every part of a person’s life and how transformative it can be when someone finally feels understood, supported, and given the right tools to heal. I was drawn to the PMHNP role because it allows me to combine clinical expertise with a compassionate, whole-person approach, addressing both the emotional and biological pieces of mental health. At the heart of my work is a belief that people are more than their symptoms, and with the right care and partnership, change is possible.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with adults who are ready to better understand themselves and actively engage in their growth process. Many of my clients are navigating significant life transitions and may feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally drained, or stuck. I also work with adults managing anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, mood disorders, chronic stress, and burnout.
I connect especially well with individuals who value a collaborative approach and are open to exploring both practical coping strategies and deeper patterns that may be affecting their well-being. Whether someone is seeking symptom relief, emotional clarity, improved boundaries, or greater resilience, I support clients who are motivated to create meaningful, sustainable change in their lives.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing is not linear and that doesn’t mean you’re failing. Growth often comes with setbacks, uncomfortable emotions, and moments of doubt, but those experiences are part of the process, not signs that something is wrong. Mental health care is not about being “fixed”; it’s about gaining insight, building tools, and learning how to respond to life’s challenges with greater awareness and resilience. With patience, consistency, and the right support, meaningful and lasting change is absolutely possible.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In your first session with me, you can expect a supportive, structured, and judgment-free conversation focused on understanding you as a whole person. We will review your current concerns, symptoms, personal history, medical background, and any previous treatment experiences. I will ask thoughtful questions to gain clarity, but there is no pressure to share more than you feel ready to discuss. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and respected from the very beginning.
In the early stages of treatment, we focus on building rapport, identifying priorities, and developing a clear, personalized plan. This may include discussing treatment options, exploring coping strategies, establishing goals, and if appropriate reviewing medication considerations. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable while also ensuring we are making steady progress.
You can expect collaboration, transparency, and ongoing check-ins about what is working and what may need adjustment. Early sessions are about laying a strong foundation so that growth feels intentional, supported, and sustainable.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is deeply informed by my belief that every person deserves to feel seen, heard, and treated with dignity regardless of their background or circumstances. I value authenticity, cultural humility, and compassion, and I strive to create a space where clients can show up fully as themselves without fear of judgment. I also believe that resilience often develops through life’s most difficult seasons, and that with the right support, people can grow in ways they may not have thought possible.
Both my professional training and personal experiences have reinforced the importance of empathy, patience, and meeting people where they are. I understand that seeking help can feel vulnerable, and I honor the courage it takes to begin the healing process. These values guide my commitment to collaborative care, transparency, and empowering clients to take an active role in their mental health journey.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor treatment by recognizing that no two individuals experience mental health in the same way. I begin with a comprehensive assessment to understand your history, current stressors, strengths, cultural background, and personal goals. From there, we develop a personalized plan that reflects your specific needs rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
I integrate evidence-based practices, supportive therapy, psychoeducation, lifestyle considerations, and when appropriate thoughtful medication management. Some clients may benefit from structured coping strategies and skill-building, while others may need deeper exploration of patterns, trauma, or relational dynamics. I also adjust pacing based on your comfort level and readiness for change.
Throughout treatment, I regularly check in to evaluate progress and make adjustments as needed. Your feedback is essential. My goal is to ensure that care remains aligned with your goals, values, and evolving needs so that growth feels relevant, empowering, and sustainable.
