Hi, I’m Ivana Spencer, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, NC-BC a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Board-Certified Nurse Coach. Ive worked in mental health for over 7 years in various settings. I currently work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, ADD/ADHD, life transitions, and chronic stress. Many of my clients come to me wanting more than symptom management—they want to understand what’s happening beneath the surface. My approach is trauma-informed, holistic, and integrative, with a focus on the connection between the mind, body, nervous system, lifestyle, and overall well-being.
I look beyond a diagnosis to understand the whole person. We explore how your experiences, nervous system, relationships, and physical health may be impacting your mental wellness. I blend evidence-based psychiatry with trauma-informed, holistic care to create a personalized plan that may include medication, lifestyle support, and mind-body strategies.
You deserve a space where you can exhale, feel heard, and show up as your whole self without judgment. You don’t have to have everything figured out before asking for support. Wherever you are in your journey, we can start there and take the next steps together. When you’re ready, I invite you to schedule an appointment and begin creating a more grounded you.

"My own experiences with trauma have deeply shaped the way I practice—I understand that healing isn’t just about treating symptoms, but understanding how our experiences affect the mind, body, nervous system, and overall well-being, which is why I take a compassionate, trauma-informed, and holistic approach that honors the whole person."
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner to help those that suffer with mental illness and feel unseen. Having undergone mental disparity myself, I saw firsthand how the providers didn’t truly understand my experience or care about the root cause of my symptoms.
What types of clients do you work best with?
\The types of clients I work best with are those that are open to collaboration and are motivated towards change.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
It looks different for everybody. Some people experience benefits a lot sooner than others and sometimes it takes time to find the right medication, or right lifestyle change to get the outcome that the client desires.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
From the very beginning, I take the time to understand the whole person—not just your symptoms, but who you are, where you come from, what you’ve experienced, and what has brought you to this point. That understanding continues to deepen as we work together, allowing me to see the bigger picture and tailor your care to what you truly need—mentally, emotionally, physically, and holistically.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Having experienced my own mental health challenges, I know how painful it can feel to be unheard, unseen, or overlooked. Those experiences have deeply shaped the way I practice and inspire me to create a space where every client feels genuinely heard, understood, and valued.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I believe therapy should look different for everyone because healing is not one-size-fits-all. After getting to know you through a comprehensive evaluation, I may recommend therapeutic approaches that align with your unique needs, experiences, and goals. When appropriate and agreed upon together, therapy can also work alongside medication as part of a personalized, holistic treatment plan.
