About LaQuandra
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with 3 years of experience providing evidence-based, person-centered care. I work with adults and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related concerns, and life transitions. I partner with clients to thoughtfully integrate medication management with education and collaborative support to promote emotional stability and meaningful progress.
I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice from Clemson University. My approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and grounded in evidence-based practice. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, individualized treatment planning, and medication education with a focus on safety, transparency, and shared decision-making.
Reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to navigate it alone. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and respected. Together, we will develop a personalized plan to help you feel more balanced, confident, and supported as you move forward.

"As a woman of color, I understand the stigma and generational pressure to keep mental health struggles private, and my goal is to help you feel supported, understood, and empowered to heal openly and at your own pace."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a psychiatric provider because of both my professional training and personal experiences that showed me how deeply mental health affects every aspect of life. I have seen firsthand how anxiety, depression, and emotional stress can impact relationships, physical health, and a person’s sense of self and how transformative it can be when someone finally feels heard and supported. These experiences shaped my desire to provide compassionate, patient-centered care and to help individuals find clarity, stability, and hope as they work toward improved mental and emotional well-being.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with young adults and adults who are motivated to better understand their mental health and are open to collaboration in their care. Many of the individuals I support are managing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, mood instability, or stress related to life transitions, career demands, or personal growth. I also work well with clients seeking clarity around diagnosis, medication management, or treatment options and who value a thoughtful, supportive, and structured approach to care.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing is not a straight line, and needing support is not a sign of weakness. Progress often happens in small, meaningful steps, and it’s okay to move at your own pace. What matters most is showing up with openness and allowing yourself the space to grow, learn, and heal over time.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, clients can expect a supportive, collaborative conversation focused on understanding their concerns and goals. Early sessions emphasize listening, education, and developing a thoughtful treatment plan, while building trust and ensuring clients feel heard, respected, and comfortable moving forward.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is informed by personal experiences that have deepened my understanding of how stress, loss, and emotional challenges can affect daily life, as well as my core values of compassion, empathy, and respect. I believe in meeting clients where they are, listening without judgment, and creating a safe space where individuals feel supported, understood, and empowered in their healing process.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor care by taking time to understand each client’s experiences, goals, and preferences. Treatment is individualized and flexible, combining thoughtful assessment, education, and evidence-based strategies, while adjusting the approach as needs evolve. I value collaboration and ensure clients feel heard and actively involved in their care.
