Hello! I'm Judy and I am here to help. I have worked in substance use disorder and mental health both in inpatient and outpatient settings. I know the different roles that there are, and I know the differences that the provider has to keep in mind when treating different patients. Sometimes it is hard to just breathe and other times it is hard to function. I can help with both and everything in between. Let's talk about the things that are holding you back from being your best self.
I use a trauma-informed style of caring for patients. This means that I treat everyone with kindness and respect and aim to gain trust. I don't want to do any damage when you have already been through so much, so my approach is very light and trauma informed.
I am here for you to get you through whatever life is throwing at you at this time. Let me be your advocate and stand in your corner. As a team, we can overcome the things that are bringing you down and get you back to where you want to be or let me help you reach your maximum potential.

"It's difficult to seek help. Some people think it is like showing weakness, but the only thing weak is doing things that you know you can do without getting all the help available, and I may be the person that can help. Allow me the honor to help you."
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I started working in inpatient substance use treatment. The more I worked with the patients, the more I saw the need for more and more treatment facilities and staff were needed. When COVID came, the mental health conditions and addictions greatly increased due to all the isolation, loss, stress, and more. This prompted me to get my degree so that I can practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and help in a provider role. I saw a problem that was getting bigger and bigger and I wanted to be part of the solution.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients that are open with me. We cannot have a successful therapeutic relationship without trust. If you are having a hard time figuring out what the problem is, then we can figure it out together. If you are holding back information about your history, medications, or anything that plays part in your mental wellness, then it will be more difficult to help you. I want to help you and honesty is what we need to build a successful therapeutic relationship and help you live your best life.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish that more people knew that seeking mental help treatment is not a sign of weakness. It is more accepted in society today than it has ever been. Do not let an old stigma stand in the way of doing life the best way possible.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, we will get to know each other. I always ask, "What brings you in?" That is what I want to know and how we get started. I would like to know what got you to the point of attending the appointment and I want to know about you.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Some experiences that guide me as I practice include to never assume anything... always ask. I also value privacy and I want you to know that what we say, stays between us unless there is a suspicion of harm to yourself or someone else. I am a mandated reporter and must report that. Also, do not get worked up. If the client is upset, I will only make that worse by being upset with them. I will share my energy in hopes of allowing them to calm down as well.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I use the first few appointments to get to know the patient and tailor my approach to how they seem like they will be most receptive to. I carefully study the patient and get to know them.
