About Chidinma
I earned my Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) and ANCC Board Certification as Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Fairfield University and my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Southern Connecticut State University. I am a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Mu Chi Chapter. My experience includes inpatient dual-diagnosis treatment, outpatient mental health services, and private practice—a diverse clinical foundation that informs my comprehensive approach to care. My treatment philosophy is grounded in the biopsychosocial model.
I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, medication management, treatment planning, and education for clients and their support systems. I specialize in psychopharmacological interventions designed to alleviate symptoms, improve quality of life, while incorporating behavioral strategies that promote long-term stability.
My approach balances clinical expertise with genuine human connection, empowering clients to develop insight, resilience, and confidence. Whether addressing depression, anxiety, trauma-related concerns, life transitions, or other mental health challenges, I am dedicated to helping clients move beyond symptom management toward greater healing and well-being.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a psychiatric provider because I have always been passionate about understanding the connection between the mind, body, and overall well-being. During my years as a psychiatric registered nurse, I witnessed firsthand how compassionate, evidence-based mental health care can help people regain hope, improve relationships, and build fulfilling lives. Those experiences inspired me to pursue my Doctor of Nursing Practice and become a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Today, I am committed to providing thoughtful, personalized care that empowers clients to achieve lasting emotional wellness and reach their full potential.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I enjoy working with adults from diverse backgrounds who are motivated to better understand themselves and improve their mental health. I commonly treat individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, traumarelated concerns, stress, burnout, mood disorders, and life transitions. I also enjoy helping clients who are navigating challenges with organization, emotional regulation, relationships, work, or selfesteem. My approach is collaborative, practical, and individualized, meeting each client where they are while developing realistic treatment goals that fit their unique needs and lifestyle.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Recovery is not about becoming a different person—it's about becoming the healthiest, most authentic version of yourself. Progress isn't always linear, and setbacks don't mean you're failing; they are often part of the learning process. Lasting change takes time, honesty, and consistency, but you don't have to navigate it alone. My role is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where we work together to identify what's keeping you stuck, build on your strengths, and develop practical strategies that help you move toward a healthier, more balanced life.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Our first session is focused on getting to know you—not just your symptoms, but your experiences, strengths, goals, and what has brought you to treatment. We'll complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, review your medical and mental health history, discuss any current concerns, and begin identifying treatment goals that are meaningful to you. If medication is appropriate, we'll discuss the potential benefits, risks, and alternatives so you can make informed decisions about your care. During the early stages of treatment, we'll work together to build a strong therapeutic relationship, monitor your progress, make adjustments as needed, and develop practical strategies that support long-term emotional wellness. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer path forward.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I believe every individual deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. My practice is guided by the values of empathy, curiosity, integrity, and lifelong learning. I recognize that each person's experiences, culture, relationships, and environment shape their mental health, and I strive to provide care that is both evidence-based and culturally responsive. As both a psychiatric registered nurse and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I've had the privilege of working with individuals from many different backgrounds and stages of life. Those experiences have reinforced my belief that healing is most successful when clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and actively involved in their treatment decisions.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
No two people experience mental health in exactly the same way, which is why I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I begin by understanding each client's unique history, symptoms, strengths, personal values, and treatment goals. From there, I develop an individualized treatment plan that may include medication management, supportive psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and practical coping strategies. My approach is collaborative and flexible, incorporating evidencebased techniques while considering each client's cultural background, lifestyle, support system, and preferences. As your needs evolve, your treatment plan evolves with you to ensure you continue making meaningful progress.
