About Paula
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with 31 years of experience providing comprehensive psychiatric care across the lifespan. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, and behavioral concerns. I support individuals seeking clarity, symptom relief, and improved daily functioning through thoughtful, individualized treatment.
I earned my master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and holistic, integrating psychiatric evaluations, medication management, psychotherapy, coping strategies, and lifestyle interventions. I coordinate care with families, therapists, schools, and providers when appropriate.
I understand how overwhelming emotional and behavioral concerns can feel, and you do not have to navigate them alone. I am committed to meeting you where you are and partnering with you to create meaningful, sustainable change. When you are ready, I welcome the opportunity to support you on your path forward.

"As an adult living with ADHD, I deeply understand the frustration, stigma, and shame many people experience—and I strive to help clients feel understood, empowered, and supported."
Get to know Paula
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have a passion for mental health advocacy, and personal experiences that highlight the importance of support and understanding in navigating life's challenges. I am driven by the goal of providing a safe space for individuals to explore their thoughts and feelings, facilitating healing and growth.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I believe I work best with preteen to adult client. Also work best with clients who are somewhat motivated to do the work of therapy. Wow, I can work with clients from various social economic areas, I work well with clients from urban/underserved areas.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish clients knew about how much better they would feel with successful therapy. Also, the client needs to understand that therapy is a process. Therapy is much like a marriage, just because one therapist is not a good match does not mean that Therapy does not work.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Clients can expect a comprehensive assessment, collaborative goal, setting and adjustments in the plan as necessary
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My experience as an adult living with ADHD and my experience of being on the receiving and of Therapy
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
First by performing a comprehensive assessment, collaborative goal setting, adjustment of the goals if necessary, cultural sensitivity, and good listening skills
