About Olufunmilayo
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with 8 years of experience in behavioral health. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, schizophrenia, eating disorders, dementia, and life transitions. I strive to create a compassionate, stigma-free environment where clients feel heard, respected, and supported as they work toward symptom relief, clarity, and emotional balance.
I earned my master’s degree in nursing from Walden University. My approach is collaborative and strengths-based, blending evidence-based treatment with empathy and practical tools. I emphasize medication management, coping strategies, and skill-building to support meaningful progress and improved daily functioning.
I believe every person deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported in their healing journey. I work alongside clients to build resilience, foster insight, and create sustainable change. If you are ready to take the next step toward healing and growth, I welcome the opportunity to support you.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a psychiatric provider because I wanted to create a safe, compassionate space where people feel truly seen and supported. Over time, I witnessed how stigma and silence often prevent individuals from seeking care, and I felt called to change that. My goal is to combine evidence‑based treatment with empathy and practical tools, helping clients not only manage symptoms but also rediscover their strengths, build resilience, and move toward lasting growth and healing.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are motivated to make meaningful changes but may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to begin. Many are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, or major life transitions. My approach resonates most with those who value collaboration, appreciate practical tools, and want a safe, stigma‑free space to explore their emotions and rediscover their strengths.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish every client knew that healing is not about perfection or quick fixes—it’s a gradual process of growth and self‑discovery. Even small steps forward matter, and setbacks can be part of the journey. Therapy is a safe space where showing up with honesty and openness is already a powerful act of courage.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In your first session, you can expect a warm, welcoming space where we focus on building trust and understanding. I’ll invite you to share your story, your concerns, and your goals, while I ask thoughtful questions to get a clear picture of your needs. In the early stages of therapy, you’ll begin to feel relief from being heard and validated, and together we’ll start setting goals, exploring practical strategies, and laying the foundation for meaningful progress.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is shaped by a deep commitment to compassion, clarity, and inclusivity. I believe every person deserves a stigma‑free space to explore their mental health, and my experiences in behavioral healthcare have shown me how transformative it can be when clients feel truly seen and supported. These values guide me to blend evidence‑based methods with empathy and practical tools, helping clients not only manage challenges but also rediscover their strengths, build resilience, and move toward lasting growth.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs by starting with a deep understanding of their personal story, values, and goals. Rather than applying a one‑size‑fits‑all approach, I collaborate with clients to identify their strengths, challenges, and preferences. From there, I draw on evidence‑based methods and adapt therapy to fit the individual—whether that means focusing on practical coping tools, exploring thought patterns, or creating space for emotional processing. I refer the patients to the appropriate therapy type that matches their unique needs. Therapy should match where each person is in their journey, be supportive, accessible, and empowering.
