About Nneka
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with 15 years of experience providing evidence-based mental health care through telehealth. I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, life transitions, and emotional regulation concerns. I support individuals and families seeking greater clarity, balance, and coping skills to improve daily functioning at home, school, work, and in relationships.
I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice from Walden University. My approach is collaborative, strength-based, and trauma-informed, blending comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy.
Seeking support is a meaningful step, and you do not have to navigate it alone. I provide a warm, nonjudgmental space focused on shared decision-making, education, and practical strategies that promote insight, resilience, and sustainable progress. I would be honored to partner with you on your journey toward balance and well-being when you are ready.

"As a nurse practitioner, I bring a warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive approach to care, creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where individuals feel heard, supported, and empowered as we work together toward healing, clarity, and lasting emotional well-being."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I chose to become a psychiatric provider because I’ve always been drawn to understanding people’s stories, how their experiences, environments, and biology intersect to shape how they think, feel, and cope. Through my nursing and advanced practice training, I saw how profoundly mental health care can change lives when people feel truly heard, respected, and supported rather than rushed or judged. Becoming a PMHNP allows me to combine clinical expertise with compassion, education, and collaboration, so I can walk alongside individuals and families as they build insight, resilience, and a path forward that feels realistic and empowering.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are seeking a thoughtful, collaborative approach to their mental health care and who value understanding why they feel the way they do not just treating symptoms. This includes children, adolescents, and adults navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood concerns, trauma-related stress, emotional dysregulation, and life transitions. I am especially well-suited for individuals and families who want clear guidance, practical strategies, and a supportive partnership that honors their strengths, values, and goals while moving toward meaningful, sustainable change.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing is not about being “fixed” or doing everything perfectly, it’s about developing understanding, skills, and self-compassion over time. Progress often happens in small, meaningful steps, and moments of struggle are not signs of failure but part of the process. With the right support and a collaborative approach, lasting change is absolutely possible.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive conversation focused on understanding what brings them in, their concerns, strengths, and goals for care. I take time to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and provide clarity around diagnoses, treatment options, and next steps so nothing feels confusing or rushed. In the early stages, we work collaboratively to build trust, establish a clear and realistic plan, and begin practical strategies whether through therapy, medication management, or both so clients feel supported, informed, and hopeful from the start.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is guided by values of compassion, cultural humility, integrity, and respect for each person’s lived experience. As a nurse and psychiatric provider, I’ve seen how stigma, misunderstanding, and lack of access can deepen suffering, and that has shaped my commitment to creating a space where clients feel safe, heard, and empowered. I believe healing happens best through genuine connection, collaboration, and honoring each individual’s strengths, resilience, and capacity for growth.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy by first taking time to understand each client’s full story—their symptoms, strengths, culture, family dynamics, medical history, and personal goals. Care is never one-size-fits-all; I adapt evidence-based approaches, pacing, and interventions to match the client’s developmental stage, preferences, and readiness for change. Through ongoing collaboration, education, and regular check-ins, treatment evolves with the client so it remains practical, meaningful, and aligned with what truly supports their growth and well-being.
