Hello, I am Karen. I am a dual-certified nurse practitioner, certified as both a family nurse practitioner and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. I have over 18 years' experience in mental health. I have worked with all age groups, from three-year-old children through 100-year-old geriatric clients. I have worked in both outpatient and inpatient settings. I work with all mental health disorders and am passionate about working in a collaborative and empathetic approach with all my clients.
My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe, supported, and never alone. I believe in meeting each person where they are, with compassion and understanding, and every client deserves to feel valued without fear of judgment. I strive to build connections and provide the same kindness, patience, and support that I would want for my own loved ones.
I treat every individual with kindness, compassion, and respect, taking time to listen and understand your experiences. Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have a strong desire to help anyone struggling with Mental Health concerns identify the root cause and assist individuals in finding hope and wellness.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
The most important thing to know that healing does not happen instantly. Some days will be feel better than others in progress and not always straightforward. Therapy is a place where you can be yourself without judgment, feeling hurt and supported and work through life challenges at your pace. You do not need to have all the answers before you begin. Simply showing up is often the first and most important step towards healing growth and lasting change.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
The first Session is primarily an opportunity for the client and the nurse practitioner to get to know one another and we build a rapport and a foundation for therapeutic relationship. It's a time to listen to the client and obtain personal history, relationships mental and mental health history strengths support systems. Opportunity to share their goals, Hopes and their expectations.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My personal And professional experiences throughout my life Have helped me develop my values And guide me in my practice each day. I believe that every person deserves to be treated with kindness respect and genuine compassion. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive space where the patient And be regarding both their strengths and their struggles. My primary goal to develop a partnership as we work on their healing and well being.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I believe Every person that Is brave enough to come to provider with mental health issues Are unique individuals. Each individual comes with their own life experiences common challenges strengths, values, and goals. I work collaboratively with each client to develop a treatment plan that reflects their unique needs and circumstances. I make an effort to understand their goals and adapt my therapeutic approach to their preferences and their goals. The most effective treatment begins with listening to your client. I want my clients to feel seen heard understood and empowered with Any interactions we have.
