About Carolina
Carolina Egbe Njikam is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PHMHNP-BC) licensed in the States of Pennsylvania and Maryland who has over 10 years of nursing experience. Carolina specializes in psychological trauma, anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, OCD-related issues, insomnia/sleeping disorders, and addiction issues.
Carolina graduated from Wilkes University with a Post-Graduate Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner APRN Certificate. She also holds a Master's degree in Nursing leadership and Management and a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Western Governor's University. Carolina has psychotherapy training and incorporates multiple modalities, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectal behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), emotionally-focused therapy (EFT), culturally sensitive (CST), and person-centered techniques (PCT) into treatment in addition to medication management.
Life is a surprise full of surprises, and Carolina believes that, as humans, we all have a past, but our past does not dictate the future. She believes that the most important aspect of care is listening to every patient's unique story. Her goal is to create an environment built on safety and trust. Carolina seeks to provide patients with the confidence to leave the session empowered and encouraged. Her goal is for each patient to attain optimum well-being and long-term happiness.

Why did you decide to become a psychiatric provider?
My passion for mental health is derived from my first experience working as a residential counselor caring for persons with disabilities. The correlation between human minds and behavior fascinates me.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with all clients. Everyone deserves the opportunity to get better and feel better.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
The first step toward healing in mental health is the courage to seek help and support. I am a non-judgemental person, so they can feel comfortable telling me anything.

I am not afraid. I am here to listen to whatever you want to share with me. I try to be thorough while focusing on how I can help each client individually.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with family, community service, reading and traveling.
