I’m Ashley Collins, a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 10 years of experience. I work with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other mental health concerns. I provide thoughtful, collaborative medication management focused on helping you feel heard and supported.
I believe good psychiatric care starts with listening. I take time to understand the full picture, explain options clearly, and make decisions with you rather than for you. You can expect a thoughtful, practical approach with ongoing attention to what is working, what isn’t, and how treatment can best support your goals.
Seeking psychiatric care can feel like a big step, and you deserve a provider who takes your concerns seriously and helps you feel comfortable asking questions. Wherever you are in your mental health journey, I’d be glad to meet you there and work together toward feeling your best. I invite you to schedule an appointment when you’re ready.

"As a psychiatric nurse practitioner with 10 years of experience, I’m passionate about helping people feel truly heard and understood while working together to find an approach that helps them feel more like themselves."
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
As a veteran and member of a military family, I was initially drawn to psychiatry by a desire to support veterans struggling with PTSD and other mental health challenges. Over the years, my passion has expanded to helping individuals and families navigate mental health concerns with compassionate, individualized care.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work especially well with clients who are motivated to feel better but may have struggled to find the right treatment in the past. I enjoy working collaboratively with clients to understand what has and hasn’t worked, explore different options, and develop a treatment plan that feels both realistic and individualized.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish every client knew that healing takes time. Progress is rarely a straight line, and finding the right treatment may require patience and adjustment along the way. Small improvements matter, and I encourage clients not to become discouraged if they don’t feel better overnight.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Our first session is a chance for me to really get to know you—not just your symptoms, but your experiences, concerns, goals, and what you hope will be different. We’ll review what you’ve tried before, discuss treatment options together, and develop a plan that feels comfortable and manageable. Early treatment is collaborative, and we’ll make adjustments as we learn what works best for you.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My work is deeply influenced by my experiences both as a psychiatric provider and as a family member. Supporting my daughter through anxiety and panic and my husband through ADHD has given me an appreciation for how mental health affects the entire family. I value compassion, patience, and truly listening to both clients and the people who support them.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I believe treatment should be individualized rather than one-size-fits-all. I take time to understand each client’s symptoms, history, previous treatment experiences, preferences, and goals. From there, we work together to create a plan that may include medication, lifestyle strategies, and collaboration with therapists or other providers when appropriate.
