About Roland

I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with 8 years of experience supporting individuals across a wide range of emotional and behavioral concerns. I work with clients experiencing mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, and significant life transitions. Many clients come to me feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected, and I provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental space to help them gain clarity, stability, and a path forward.

I earned my Master of Science in nursing from Walden University. My approach integrates evidence-based medication management with a collaborative, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and holistic perspective. I tailor treatment to each individual’s unique needs and goals while prioritizing safety, understanding, and empowerment throughout care.

Seeking support can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to navigate these challenges alone. I am here to walk alongside you with compassion, patience, and respect. Together, we will work toward relief from symptoms, improved coping skills, and meaningful, lasting change when you are ready to begin.

Get to know Roland

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I decided to enter this field because I believe every person deserves to be heard, supported, and treated with dignity. Being able to help clients make meaningful changes, reclaim their sense of self, and move toward healthier futures is what drives my passion for this work.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with clients who are motivated to make meaningful changes, open to exploring medication options when appropriate, and willing to work together toward improving their daily functioning and long-term well-being.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing isn’t a straight line. Progress can be slow, uneven, and sometimes messy, and that’s completely normal.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

In the first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where we focus on understanding your story, current challenges, and goals for therapy. I’ll ask questions about your mental health history, daily functioning, and any specific concerns or symptoms you’re experiencing. Together, we’ll begin to identify patterns, clarify what you hope to achieve, and discuss how we can work collaboratively toward those goals. In the early stages of therapy, the focus is on building trust, developing insight into your experiences, and establishing practical strategies or coping tools to help you feel more stable and supported. Clients can expect an approach that is both structured and flexible, tailored to meet their unique needs while laying the foundation for meaningful progress.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My practice is informed by a deep commitment to empathy, respect, and understanding for each individual’s unique journey. I value creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported. Personal experiences witnessing the impact of trauma, mental health struggles, and life instability have shaped my approach, giving me a strong appreciation for resilience and the courage it takes to seek help. These experiences guide me to practice with patience, compassion, and cultural humility, ensuring that each client’s strengths, values, and goals are central to the work we do together.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I tailor therapy to each client by first listening closely to their experiences, goals, and challenges, and then collaborating to create a plan that fits their unique needs and circumstances. I consider factors such as mental health history, coping styles, cultural background, trauma experiences, and current life stressors. My approach blends evidence-based interventions with flexibility, so we can adjust strategies as we learn what works best for you. Whether it’s medication management, skill-building, coping strategies, or exploring underlying patterns, my goal is to provide care that is personalized, practical, and empowering, helping each client make meaningful and lasting progress.
