About Amanda
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with 9 years of experience providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to adolescents and adults. I support individuals navigating anxiety, depression, PTSD, and the everyday challenges that can impact emotional well-being. My approach centers on understanding the whole person and creating thoughtful, individualized treatment plans that promote long-term stability and growth.
I earned my master’s degree in nursing from Colorado State University Pueblo. My professional background includes emergency room nursing, quality management, and nursing education. Growing up in rural Northern New Mexico deeply shaped my appreciation for cultural diversity and the role it plays in resilience, connection, and healing.
I believe effective mental health care goes beyond medication alone and focuses on collaboration, education, and trust. I strive to help you understand your symptoms, treatment options, and goals so you feel empowered in your care. If you are looking for honest support in a welcoming space, I invite you to schedule an appointment so we can begin working together.

"I believe mental health care should feel steady, respectful, and empowering—not rushed, invalidating, or intimidating."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Working as an ER nurse showed me how often mental health is at the center of everything, and how many people fall through the cracks when care feels rushed, dismissive, or hard to access. I am passionate about serving rural and under-served populations and making mental health care accessible and stigma-free.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who want thoughtful, collaborative care and appreciate a provider who explains options clearly and checks in along the way. If you’re looking for someone who will take you seriously and treat you like a whole person—not a checklist—I’m a great fit.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
When you’ve been stuck in stress and ‘stinkin thinkin’ for a long time, your brain can get locked into worn-in pathways—and the right medication can help the brain shift gears so new patterns become possible.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session and early visits, you can expect a thoughtful, safety-first approach to medication—reviewing your symptoms, medical history, current meds, and past responses so we can choose something that fits your goals and minimizes side effects or interactions. I’ll explain how the medication works in the brain, what improvements to look for, what to watch out for, and we’ll adjust carefully based on how you’re actually feeling between visits.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I’m deeply shaped by growing up in a rural community with a single parent, and later becoming a single parent myself—so I understand what it feels like to carry a lot, keep going, and still struggle quietly. Going back to school as an older adult taught me resilience, humility, and the value of practical support that actually fits real life. Those experiences also helped me understand how powerful “stinkin thinkin” can be, and why compassionate, evidence-based care matters when you’re trying to break out of long-worn patterns and feel more like yourself again.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor care by listening closely to your story, symptoms, strengths, and goals, then building a treatment plan that fits your real life—not a one-size-fits-all approach. I adjust based on what’s working (and what isn’t), provide clear education along the way, and make sure you feel supported, respected, and involved in every decision.
