Shannon Griggs-Miller is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 2 years of experience providing compassionate, client-centered care. With a background in mental health, correctional nursing, emergency, and progressive care, Shannon has worked with individuals across the lifespan, from children to older adults, supporting them through a variety of psychiatric diagnoses including personality disorders, mood disorders, anxiety, and depression. Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I became a Psychiatric Provider to make a difference in someone, to help improve their mental health to be able to function in life.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with clients that would work as a team to help get themselves back to feeling their best.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

I wish all clients knew that no one person is the same and that each client is individualized to their needs for care and treatment.

What inspires you?

To see improvement in a client.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

My first session with the client I want to establish a trusting relationship and make the client feel comfortable within their means.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I want to accomplish building a rapport within the first session.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

For fun I like to travel and spend time with my family and friends.

I'm adaptable to any situation, lifestyle, and isn't afraid to face challenges. An open and honest person

Does Shannon prescribe medications effective for the treatment of ADHD?

Yes - when clinically appropriate, Shannon may prescribe both non-stimulant and stimulant medication for the treatment of ADHD.
