Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a psychiatric provider when my nephew struggled with depression and suicidal ideation and was unable to find a provider.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are open to exploring how I can support their overall mental health goals. Many of my clients are navigating conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, or mood instability, and are looking for a thoughtful, collaborative approach to medication management. I especially connect with individuals who value clear communication, want to understand their treatment options, and are willing to be active participants in their care. Whether you're starting medication for the first time, revisiting it after a break, or adjusting an existing regimen, I strive to create a nonjudgmental space where we can make informed decisions together—often in coordination with therapy or other supports.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that mental health is just as important—and just as real—as physical health.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In your first medication management session, the focus is on getting to know you—not just your symptoms, but your story.
We’ll talk about your mental health history, current concerns, any past experiences with medications, your medical background, and what you hope to get out of treatment. I may also ask about sleep, appetite, energy, mood, and stressors in your life. This is a collaborative conversation—there’s no pressure to make any decisions right away. If medication feels appropriate, we’ll discuss your options, how they work, potential side effects, and answer any questions you have. My goal is to make sure you feel informed, supported, and involved in your care from the very beginning.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I believe there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to mental health.
Every person comes with a unique story, set of strengths, challenges, and goals. When it comes to medication management, I consider not just what may work clinically, but what makes sense for you in your daily life. I also collaborate with therapists, primary care providers, or other supports when needed to ensure your care is coordinated and holistic. My goal is to create a treatment plan that feels realistic, respectful, and truly aligned with who you are.
