About Jeanmarie
I'm Jeanmarie Roberts, psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner and doctor of behavioral health. I work with many different types of clients — depression, anxiety, PTSD, among others — and the common denominator seems to be wanting to be back to the way they used to be, to be "normal."
I am big on educating my clients to be informed consumers. Knowledge is power! I also come with a great deal of empathy and understanding of what someone is going through. I meet folks wherever they happen to be at that moment.
My goal is to help people live their best lives, and working with my clients is truly an honor. So I would like to invite you to schedule an appointment with me, and we will walk your journey together.

"I believe every person deserves to live their best life, and I am here to help them do that. "

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Both my mom and dad had mental health issues. I always felt so helpless around them. After they passed away, I promised myself that I would learn how to help folks like them, so I became a nurse, and later a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Clients who actively participate in their care are ones with whom I work best.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
That getting well is possible! Many people with mental health issues believe they are stuck where they currently are, and that's just not true.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Since I am a prescriber, clients can expect a thorough assessment, setting goals, and education on interventions. Together we come up with a plan of care. There is time for questions.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Besides my parents struggles, I have had my own. Coming out the other side taught me empathy and compassion, and the knowledge to meet each individual where they are at any given time.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
Since I am a prescriber, I use mostly Motivational Interviewing so that I can learn about my clients and their individual needs.
