My name is Davette Patterson-Yount and as a PMHNP, I bring 20 years of nursing experience and 16 years of experience in the mental health field. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of caring for individuals across the lifespan, from children and adolescents to adults and older adults. I have experience treating a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, ADHD, schizophrenia, and psychotic disorders.

My approach to care is collaborative and holistic. My goal is to create an environment where people can come as they are. I believe that effective mental health treatment involves looking beyond symptoms to understand the whole person, including their experiences, goals, strengths, challenges and their overall wellbeing.

My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive environment where people feel comfortable to come as they are. I value open communication and shared decision-making. My goal is for each person to feel heard, respected, and supported as we work together toward greater stability, wellness, and overall quality of life.

"As a woman and mom, I've learned to be kinder to myself and give grace to others. Sometimes, life can be hard, but it is the unexpected moments, the little things that makes the biggest impact."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I chose to become a psychiatric provider because growing up and throughout my career in nursing, I saw how deeply mental health affects every aspect of a person's life. I wanted to do more to help people.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with clients who are open to exploring and understanding their mental health and willing to collaborate in their care.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

I wished people truly understood that their mental health is as important as their physical health. It is perfectly fine for you to come as you are. No judgement.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My mom taught me how to care for people. She taught me to always treat people the way I would expect my own family to be treated.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

A person's treatment is individualized to that person, their symptoms, experiences, and goals.
