"As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, my approach is rooted in the belief that healing isn't about being "broken" and needing to be fixed, but rather about providing you with a safe, collaborative space to process deep-seated challenges and reclaim your inherent resilience. "

Get to know Brea

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

If there’s one fundamental truth that can completely transform how someone approaches healing, it’s this: progress is rarely a straight line. People often start therapy expecting a steady, upward trajectory. They think, “I’m putting in the work, so every week I should feel a little better than the last.” But real growth is messy. It looks a lot more like a tangled ball of yarn or a jagged stock market chart. You will have weeks where you feel incredibly self-aware, grounded, and lighter. And then, seemingly out of nowhere, a bad day or a rough week will hit, and it feels like you've slid right back to square one.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

My therapeutic approach is deeply rooted in a patientcentered philosophy, characterized by a down-toearth and authentic style. I believe that therapy is most effective when it is a collaborative partnership built on mutual respect and genuine human connection. By fostering an open, non-judgmental environment, I strive to make every client feel heard, understood, and truly supported as they navigate their unique mental health journey. My goal is to meet you exactly where you are, providing a safe space where you can explore your challenges and achieve your personal growth objectives with confidence.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

Some people enter care ready to dig into deep-seated, systemic patterns from their past. Others are in acute distress and simply need immediate, practical tools to survive the week. Tailoring care means honoring that timeline. If a client is feeling completely overwhelmed, forcing deep reflective work isn't helpful; that's the time for grounding techniques and stabilization. The deeper processing can happen once the baseline feels safe.
