Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I chose to become a psychiatric provider because I have a strong passion for supporting individuals through their mental health journeys and helping them achieve meaningful, lasting change. I value creating a safe and compassionate space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered in their care. As a psychiatric provider, I am able to combine clinical expertise with empathy and collaboration to help individuals better understand their mental health, overcome challenges, and work toward improved quality of life.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Client of all ages with mental health issues.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish every client knew is that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness, and that healing is a personal journey that takes time. Progress may not always be linear, but with patience, support, and the right treatment, meaningful change is possible.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
During the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where we take time to understand their concerns, personal history, current symptoms, and treatment goals. I will explain the treatment process, answer questions, and work collaboratively with the client to develop an individualized plan of care. In the early stages of treatment, we focus on building trust, identifying priorities, exploring appropriate treatment options, and establishing realistic goals. My approach is collaborative and paced according to each client’s unique needs, with an emphasis on helping them feel informed, supported, and actively involved in their care.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is grounded in the values of compassion, empathy, respect, and individualized care. I believe every person has a unique story, and that understanding their experiences, strengths, and goals is essential to providing meaningful mental health care. I am committed to creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to participate actively in their treatment. My dedication to lifelong learning and evidence-based practice also guides me in providing thoughtful, ethical, and personalized care.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor care to each client by taking the time to understand their individual experiences, concerns, strengths, values, and treatment goals. I recognize that there is no one-size-fitsall approach to mental health care, so I use evidence-based strategies while adapting treatment to each person’s needs, preferences, and readiness for change. Through open communication and shared decision-making, I work collaboratively with clients to develop a personalized plan that supports their goals and promotes meaningful, lasting progress.
