About Cameron
Cameron Schidlmeier is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who has over 15 years of experience working with adults and seniors. She manages and treats a wide range of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and trauma-related disorders. She is passionate about providing the highest quality behavioral and medical care. Cameron approaches each patient as an individual, meeting them where they are while educating, supporting, and guiding them to reach their highest potential through therapy and medication management.
Cameron completed her Doctoral degree in Nursing Practice (DNP) at Rush University and her doctoral studies on improving negative affect amongst Veterans with PTSD through the implementation of a protocolized Yoga Nidra meditation group. Cameron's exceptional clinical skills are coupled with a natural ability to build rapport with patients and families, creating a safe space for patients to share and grow. In addition to medication management, she incorporates trauma-informed (TIF), emotionally focused (EFT) person-centered (PCT) techniques into treatment, while utilizing a dynamic blend of motivational interviewing (MI) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT).
Cameron is confident that she can help to reestablish equilibrium in your life through the development of realistic, adaptive coping strategies combined with supportive medication management. She sees the potential in all of her patients and works diligently to encourage her patients to recognize and achieve that same potential in themselves. If you are ready to get started, schedule an appointment with Cameron today.

Get to know Cameron
Why did you decide to become a psychiatric provider?
I believe that our greatest purpose in this life is to alleviate the suffering of others. I can think of no more deserving area for this work than psychiatry, as psychological suffering all too often is carried with us an invisible injury; less easily identified than a missing limb but oftentimes more devastating.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with any client who is brave enough to simply ask for help.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
You are capable of unimaginable growth and recovery.
What inspires you?
I am constantly inspired by the strength of my patients to continue to show up and fight for the life they deserve. It is not easy to stick with it when you feel weighed down by life, and their fortitude lights a fire in me to fight alongside them as we navigate the bumps and curves in the road.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In your first session with me you can expect introductions and an opportunity for you to share with me what your goals for treatment are. You can feel free to ask me any questions that might make you feel more comfortable and to share and good or bad past experiences. I know how unnerving a first appointment can be, so you can also expect a fair amount of praise for your bravery in seeking help.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I am relaxed, informal and dynamic. If you choose to work with me, you should know that we become a team in working towards your health and happiness. I do not believe in telling people what they should or should not do. Instead, I will take the time to listen to your story and your needs, provide you with a thoughtful recommendation and accept your decision to accept or decline that recommendation. This is your life, your mind, your body. You are in the driver's seat, I'm simply here to help you navigate as needed.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I am an imperfect but dedicated yogi and when I am not in session, I am probably in a hot yoga studio working on sweating out my own stress and anxiety.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
My love for my family is everything to me. I believe in raising my children to be kind and compassionate souls who can bring more desperately needed love into this world.
