Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

After decades of serving the public as a nurse, I realized that psychiatry is essential in each and every specialty: Orthopedics, Neurology, GI, Pediatrics, Womens health, Mens health... As I excelled at making a connection with patients while meeting them at the point of their need, it only made sense to include psychiatric nursing in further educational pursuits

What types of clients do you work with best?

Better outcomes are generally achieved if patients are comfortable sharing their medical history, and the success or failures of past treatments.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

All

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

There is a huge stigma associated with mental health treatment. Everyone should know and trust that reaching out for help doesnt mean one is broken, it only means that an alarm is being sounded and that help may be needed... without judgement

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I have great respect and appreciation for the work of the therapists here at Thriveworks. I have seen therapy change lives, nowhere else has a better and more welcoming telehealth environment than at Thriveworks.

What inspires you?

New research in the field of behavioral health. I enjoy learning about different modalities, treatments, medications that are making breakthroughs in our field.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

In the first session, there will be a lot of open ended questions geared towards learning about past treatments, medical problems, current medication history, past hospitalizations, allergies, surgeries, etc.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

It is very important to have a bit of patience during this time. Remember, that you have known yourself all your life, but I am a stranger just meeting you!

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

As a clinician I can be very direct, and I pride myself on always telling the truth, whether it be good, bad, or ugly I owe patients the absolute truth. As a human, I am kind and considerate and will put your needs first always.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I play bass guitar, read mystery novels, and study the Bible.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I have strong beliefs concerning family, faith, and service towards others.

Does CLINICIAN prescribe medications effective for the treatment of ADHD?
