Hello, my name is Jennifer Hoyt. I am both a family nurse practitioner and a psychiatric nurse practitioner who offers over 10 years of experience and managing complex mental health disorders. I enjoy working with people who experience neurodiversity, anxiety, depression, and trauma disorders. I like to get to know my clients, their past challenges, current challenges, and goals for treatment. My care focuses on your priority for functioning. As a Neurodiverse individual, I understand that you may have experienced less than affirming care elsewhere, my hope is to see you as the individual you are and improve your overall functioning.
I like to know about you and your life. What went well since our last session and what your goals are until our next session. I like to celebrate small successes. I encouraged journaling or mood tracking apps to allow you to better evaluate your overall functioning.
It’s never too late to get better, schedule a time to talk and see how I can help you improve your life.

"As Ina Garten once said, if you can’t make your own, store-bought will do. I embrace this philosophy in my professional practice. Sometimes we can no longer rely on our homegrown/made coping skills, we’ve exhausted our abilities, and our brains just need a little help tweaking our neurotransmitters for our success. That’s where I can help. While I am a strong advocate of lifestyle management, medication can be immensely helpful when everything else has failed. Let’s work together to get your life working for you again."
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I found that psychiatric care and access was missing in my local area for individuals with neurodiversity and sought additional training to meet those needs.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Women, Teens, People in Transition.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
You are worthy of the effort and the time.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
A focus on understanding your needs and goals for treatment.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I am neurodiverse which gives me a different view point in diagnosis and treatment. I understand the challenges of masking and working in a neurotypical world.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
We will constantly evaluate your progress towards your stated goals and adjust your treatment as needed. Please note the medication management takes time for therapeutic levels to be reached so we will also focus on making appropriate incremental goals during your initial sessions.
