About Deidra
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with 1 year of experience providing compassionate, patient-centered mental health care. I support adults navigating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, stress, and life transitions. My background in nursing allows me to approach care holistically, considering both emotional and physical well-being while helping clients build clarity, resilience, and healthier coping strategies.
I earned my Master of Science in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based care, integrating supportive psychotherapy, mindfulness-based techniques, and cognitive-behavioral strategies to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Seeking support can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to do it alone. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered. Together, we will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you as you move toward greater balance, insight, and emotional well-being.

"As a PMHNP, I combine my clinical expertise with a warm, collaborative approach, drawing on both my professional experience and my own unique experiences to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, supported, and empowered."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I wanted to be part of a field where I could combine clinical expertise with understanding, patience, and support during some of the most vulnerable moments in people’s lives. Psychiatry allows me to build meaningful connections and work collaboratively toward healing and resilience. The opportunity to empower individuals, reduce stigma, and help them reclaim their sense of well-being is what inspired me to serve in this profession.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are open to exploring their thoughts and emotions and who are willing to engage collaboratively in the healing process. This doesn’t mean they need to have everything figured out—just a willingness to be honest, curious, and invested in their own growth. I particularly enjoy working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and stress-related challenges, as well as those who appreciate a balanced approach that includes both practical strategies and deeper reflection.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing is not a straight line, it’s a gradual process that takes time, patience, and self-compassion. Progress can be subtle, and setbacks don’t mean failure; they’re a natural part of growth. Therapy isn’t about being “fixed,” but about learning new skills, understanding yourself more deeply, and building resilience.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming space where the focus is on getting to know them—who they are, what brings them in, and what they hope to gain from therapy. I typically spend time exploring their history, current concerns, and any questions or expectations they may have. Early sessions are about building trust, establishing goals, and creating a treatment plan together. Clients can expect a pace that feels comfortable, without pressure to share more than they’re ready for.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice as a provider is shaped by a deep belief in empathy, respect, and the inherent resilience of every person. I value authenticity, curiosity, and the understanding that each person’s story is shaped by a unique blend of culture, environment, and lived experience. These values guide me to approach each client with openness, humility, and a genuine desire to understand their perspective.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs by taking the time to understand their individual history, personality, goals, and preferred way of communicating. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I draw from a variety of therapeutic methods and adjust them based on what resonates most with the client. I pay close attention to their strengths, challenges, cultural background, and the pace at which they feel comfortable working.
