About Abiola
I'm Abiola Odusanya, D.N.P., PMHNP. I have 20 years of experience in psychiatry. I work with clients who have ADHD, depression, anxiety, grief, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and other mental health challenges. I'm a fun-loving mom of teens and young adults who knows firsthand that life can be messy, stressful, and unpredictable—whether you're a teen navigating school and friendships, a parent juggling family and work, or an adult facing life's unexpected challenges. I see each client as a unique person and understand that mental health isn't one-size-fits-all.
I take a holistic, individualized approach to care, seeing each person as more than their diagnosis. I work closely with clients and families to create a judgment-free space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered in your mental health journey. My goal is to provide compassionate, practical care tailored to your needs.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family—talking, watching movies, and shopping. I also enjoy traveling, reading, and listening to gospel music. I believe mental health care can be supportive and uplifting, and I'm here to walk alongside you on your journey to healing, resilience, and growth.

"As a woman, a mother, and someone who has experienced personal loss, I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to my work as a PMHNP, offering a compassionate, culturally responsive space where you can feel seen, heard, and supported in your healing."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I chose to become a psychiatric provider because I believe mental health deserves the same compassion, attention, and care as physical health. As a woman of color, a mother, and someone who has experienced personal loss, I understand how deeply life experiences can affect our emotional well-being. These experiences have strengthened my desire to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where people feel seen, heard, and supported. Becoming a psychiatric provider allows me to combine my professional knowledge with empathy and lived experience to help others navigate difficult seasons, find hope, and work toward meaningful healing.
What types of clients do you work best with?
Depressed, anxious, patients with ADHD and bipolar disorder.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish every client knew that healing is not a straight line, and needing support does not mean you are weak or broken. Therapy is a space to be honest, grow at your own pace, and learn to understand yourself with greater compassion.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first session, my goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and judgmentfree space where you feel comfortable being yourself. We’ll talk about what brought you to care, your current concerns, your goals, and the experiences that have shaped your mental health. In the early stages of therapy, we’ll work together to understand your needs better, identify patterns and challenges, and develop a personalized treatment approach that feels realistic and meaningful to you.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
As a woman of color, a mother, and someone who has experienced personal loss, I bring empathy, compassion, and a deep understanding of life’s challenges to my practice. These experiences have taught me the importance of feeling truly seen, heard, and supported, especially during vulnerable seasons of life. I value authenticity, cultural humility, and treating each person as a whole, and not simply focusing on a diagnosis. My approach is rooted in creating a safe, judgment-free space where clients can feel empowered to heal, grow, and become the best version of themselves.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I believe there is no onesize-fits-all approach to mental health care. I take time to understand each client’s unique experiences, culture, values, goals, strengths, and challenges, and use that understanding to create a personalized treatment plan. I collaborate with clients to choose approaches that feel comfortable and meaningful while adjusting treatment as their needs evolve.
