I'm Tricia , a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over 10 years in behavioral health, including 7 years as an inpatient psychiatric RN and 7+ years as an NP in outpatient and community settings. I work with adolescents and adults facing depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, and psychosis. My clients are often seeking symptom relief, stability, and hope, and I partner with them and their families to build personalized treatment plans that support lasting recovery.

My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and patient-centered. I combine thorough psychiatric evaluation, careful medication management, and supportive psychotherapy, and I educate clients and families about diagnoses and options. You can expect to be heard, respected, and actively involved in every treatment decision as we work toward your goals.

Seeking help takes courage, and you don't have to face this alone. Whatever you're going through, your story matters and healing is possible. I'm passionate about caring for patients and families and reducing the stigma around mental health. If you're ready to take the next step, I'd be honored to walk alongside you. "My own experience growing up in a family where mental health was not openly discussed shaped my passion for destigmatizing mental illness and helping people and their families find hope, healing, and a path toward recovery."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I became a psychiatric provider because of both personal and professional experiences that showed me how deeply mental illness can affect individuals and their families. I grew up in a family where mental health was not openly discussed, and witnessing my mother’s struggles and eventual diagnosis sparked my curiosity and desire to better understand mental illness. Over the course of my career, I have seen how stigma can prevent people from seeking help, but I have also witnessed the transformation that can occur when people receive compassionate, evidencebased care. I chose this field because I want to help reduce that stigma, meet people where they are, and support them in finding a path toward healing and recovery.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with clients who are open to collaboration and interested in improving their mental health and overall well-being. I enjoy working with individuals across the lifespan, including adolescents, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and life transitions. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and comfortable sharing their concerns. I recognize that each person’s experiences and developmental needs are unique, so I tailor my approach to their individual needs, preferences, and goals. I find it especially rewarding to help clients develop insight, strengthen coping skills, and experience meaningful improvements in their quality of life

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

I wish all clients understood that healing is not always a linear process, and progress does not have to be perfect to be meaningful. Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness, and everyone deserves support without fear of judgment. Therapy and mental health treatment are collaborative processes that take time, patience, and a willingness to explore new perspectives and approaches. Setbacks do not mean failure, and small steps forward matter. My hope is that every client recognizes that their experiences do not define them and that meaningful growth and positive change are possible.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

Clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where they feel heard and respected. During our first session, I focus on getting to know them, understanding their concerns, exploring their mental health history, and learning what they hope to achieve through treatment. I encourage open communication and recognize that building trust takes time, so there is no pressure to share everything at once. In the early stages of treatment, we work collaboratively to identify goals and develop an individualized plan that may include medication management, therapeutic strategies, lifestyle modifications, or a combination of approaches. My goal is for clients to feel comfortable, understood, and empowered to take an active role in their mental health journey.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

Growing up in a family where mental health was not openly discussed shaped my understanding of the stigma and misconceptions that can prevent people from seeking help. Witnessing the impact of mental health challenges on individuals and families, including my own experiences, sparked my curiosity and ultimately influenced my decision to pursue a career in psychiatric mental health. These experiences have reinforced my belief that every person deserves to feel heard, understood, and treated with dignity and compassion. I value empathy, respect, collaboration, and meeting people where they are without judgment. As a provider, I strive to create a safe space where clients feel comfortable being themselves, empowered to participate in their care, and hopeful about the possibility of healing and meaningful change.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I believe effective care begins with understanding the whole person, not just the diagnosis. I take time to learn about each client’s history, strengths, goals, values, and current challenges, and I use that information to develop an individualized treatment approach. I adjust my approach based on what resonates with the client, whether that means supportive therapy, psychoeducation, practical coping strategies, or helping them develop insight into patterns that may be affecting their mental health. Most importantly, I view treatment as a collaborative process and work with each client to determine what feels meaningful, realistic, and helpful for them.
