About Oladunni

Hi, I'm Oladunni Faminu, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of clinical experience. I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice with a postgraduate specialization in psychiatric mental health from Frontier Nursing University, my Master of Science in Nursing from South University, and my bachelor's degree from Grand Canyon University. I'm licensed in Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, and Maryland. I work with individuals ages 14 to 80 navigating anxiety, stress and burnout, bipolar disorder, depression, sleep problems, and ADHD.

My training spans psychiatry and primary care, giving me a holistic view of your health. I use an integrated, evidence-based approach. Many feel overwhelmed or exhausted. Some are in treatment seeking a provider who listens and adjusts care. People usually seek to feel like themselves, understand what's happening, and have a real partner moving forward.

Whatever brings you here, you don't have to figure it out. I know reaching out for support feels like a big step, and I'm honored you're here. My goal is simple—to see you, not just a diagnosis, and support you with care that treats your mind and body as connected. We'll work through it together, one step at a time, toward lasting wellness.

"You don't have to separate your mental health from the rest of your health, and neither do I. As a PMHNP and FNP, I'm here to treat you as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

My path into psychiatric care grew directly out of my work as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Time and again, I saw how closely mental and physical health were connected a patient's chronic pain tangled up with depression, unmanaged anxiety showing up as physical symptoms, burnout affecting everything from sleep to blood pressure. Treating the body without addressing the mind, or the mind without understanding the body, only ever told half the story. That realization is what drew me deeper into psychiatric mental health care because I wanted to be able to treat the whole person, not just the piece of them that happened to walk through a particular door.

What types of clients do you work best with?

Clients age 18 to 40.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

If there's one thing I wish every client understood, it's that healing isn't a straight line and that's normal. Progress in mental health often looks like two steps forward and one step back, not a steady climb. There will be good days and hard days, breakthroughs and setbacks, and none of that means you're failing or that treatment isn't working. Real, lasting change takes time, patience, and consistency and it happens one honest step at a time, together. "I wish every client knew that this is a judgment-free space. You don't need to have the right words, the perfect explanation, or all the answers you just need to show up as you are, and we'll figure out the rest together."

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

Your first session is about getting to know each other. There's no pressure to have everything figured out or to explain things perfectly. I will guide the conversation with questions about what has been going on, your history, and what brought you in. We'll talk through your symptoms, your goals, and any past treatment or medications, so I can understand the full picture of your mental and physical health. By the end of our time together, we will have a clear, collaborative plan for moving forward, whether that includes medication, therapy referrals, lifestyle strategies, or a combination of approaches tailored to you. Most of all, I want you to leave feeling heard, not rushed, and confident that you have a partner in this process.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

No two people experience anxiety, depression, or ADHD the same way so no two treatment plans should look the same either. I take the time to understand your full picture: your symptoms, your history, your lifestyle, your goals, and what's realistically sustainable for your life. From there, I build a plan that fits you whether that means adjusting medication dosages based on how your body responds, combining medication with lifestyle and behavioral strategies, coordinating with therapists or other providers you're already working with, or shifting course entirely if something isn't working. Because I'm trained in both psychiatry and primary care, I also factor in how your physical health affects your mental health, and vice versa. Care isn't static here as your needs change, your plan changes with you.
