Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a psychiatric provider because I began my career as an LPN and quickly realized how much I valued being part of a patient's healing journey. As I gained experience, I developed a deeper interest in mental health and recognized the growing need for compassionate, knowledgeable providers in this field. That inspired me to continue advancing my education and career so I could have a greater impact on individuals’ lives, not just physically but emotionally and mentally as well.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients ranging from adolescents to geriatrics who are open to receiving help and actively engaged in their mental health journey. I appreciate working with individuals who are motivated to grow, even if they’re unsure where to start, as it allows for a strong therapeutic alliance and meaningful progress.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I’m most excited to work with clients who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives, even if they’re facing significant challenges.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing is not linear, and it’s okay to have setbacks. Progress can look different for everyone, and what matters most is showing up for yourself consistently. Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness, and you don’t have to have everything figured out to begin the journey.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks because I deeply align with their commitment to providing high-quality, accessible mental health care. Thriveworks’ supportive and collaborative environment allows me to focus on delivering personalized care, while also having the resources and team support needed to continuously grow and improve as a provider. I appreciate their focus on client-centered care and the emphasis on meeting clients where they are in their journey.
What inspires you?
Exploring new places and cultures broadens my perspective, while personal and professional growth keeps me motivated and connected to my purpose. I believe there’s always something to learn, and that mindset fuels both my life and my work.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In the first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming environment focused on building rapport and trust. I take time to get to know each individual what brings them to medication management, therapy, their goals, and any concerns they may have. We’ll also discuss what therapy might look like moving forward, all at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session, my goal is to create a safe and supportive space where the individual feels heard and respected. I aim to begin building a strong therapeutic relationship, gather a basic understanding of their concerns, and collaboratively identify their goals for treatment. It’s important to me that clients leave the first session feeling more at ease and with a clear sense of what to expect moving forward.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Before scheduling a first session, clients should know that I take a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach and meet each person where they are. I believe in creating a collaborative space where clients feel comfortable being themselves. My style is supportive yet goal-oriented, and I’m committed to helping clients navigate challenges at a pace that works for them.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
In my time off, I enjoy spending time outdoors hiking or walking with my dogs it helps me recharge and stay grounded. I also love taking aerial classes, which challenge me physically and creatively while providing a fun way to stay active.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I’m someone who thrives on experiences that push me physically and mentally while keeping me connected to the present moment.
