About Derenda
I'm a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care in a supportive, judgment-free environment. My passion is helping individuals feel heard, understood, and empowered. Healing begins with a trusting therapeutic relationship, and I take the time to listen so we can develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs, goals, and values. I work with adolescents and adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, life transitions, and difficulty with emotional regulation.
My approach is collaborative, holistic, and patient-centered. I combine psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive therapy to help clients understand their symptoms and make informed decisions. My goal is to provide a safe, respectful space where you can build resilience, gain confidence, and achieve lasting emotional wellness.
Everyone's journey is unique, and seeking support is a courageous first step toward healing and growth. I am committed to providing a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. I would be honored to partner with you on your path to better mental health, and invite you to schedule an appointment when you are ready.

"As one who has experienced life trauma, my goal is to partner with you to create a treatment plan that fosters healing, resilience, and lasting wellbeing."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a psychiatric provider because I believe that mental health care has the power to transform lives. Throughout my nursing career, I witnessed how compassion, genuine connection, and evidencebased treatment can help people regain hope during some of their most difficult times. I was inspired to become a PMHNP so I could build lasting therapeutic relationships, provide comprehensive care, and empower individuals to better understand their mental health.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with individuals who are motivated to improve their mental health and are looking for a better quality of life. Whether your goal is to reduce symptoms, improve relationships, enhance focus, manage stress, or simply feel more life yourself again, I am committed to providing personalized, evidencebased care that empowers you to make meaningful and lasting progress.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish every client knew is that healing is not about being perfect; it's about making steady progress, one step at a time. There will be moments of growth, setbacks, and everything in between, and that is a normal part of the process.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
During your first session, my priority is getting to know you, not just your symptoms, but our story. We'll discuss what brought you to treatment, your current concerns, your medical and mental health history, and the goals you hope to achieve.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is grounded in the belief that every person deserves to be treated with compassion, dignity, and respect. Throughout my nursing career, I have had the privilege of caring for individuals from diverse backgrounds and at many different stages of life. Those experiences reinforced the importance of truly listening, building trust, and recognizing that every person's story is unique. I understand that seeking mental health care can feel vulnerable, which is why I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, supported and empowered.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I believe that no two individuals are alike, which is why I take a personalized approach to every client's care. I begin by taking the time to understand your experiences, symptoms, strengths, lifestyle, cultural background, and personal goals. Together, we develop a treatment plan that reflects your needs and preferences rather than using a one-size-fitsall approach. As your treatment progresses, I will continuously assess how you're responding and adjust your care as needed.
