What is your go-to approach for individual therapy?

Anthony Vecchio
Anthony Vecchio

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

My primary approach in individual therapy revolves around fostering a trusting therapeutic relationship while integrating evidence-based techniques, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Trust is foundational in my practice, as it creates a safe space for clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.I rely on CBT's proven effectiveness to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors. By collaboratively examining these patterns, clients gain insight into their emotional experiences and develop practical coping strategies. Additionally, I incorporate mindfulness and acceptance-based techniques to enhance self-awareness and resilience.By combining these approaches within a trusting therapeutic alliance, I empower clients to navigate challenges, foster personal growth, and achieve their therapeutic goals.

What should someone do to prepare for starting online therapy?

Anthony Vecchio
Anthony Vecchio

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

To prepare for your first online therapy session, you can take the following steps:
  • Test your technology: Ensure that your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) and internet connection are working properly. Test the video conferencing platform or therapy app you'll be using to familiarize yourself with its features and troubleshoot any potential technical issues.
  • Choose a private space: Select a quiet, private space where you can participate in therapy sessions without interruptions or distractions. Consider using headphones to maintain confidentiality and minimize background noise.
  • Set up your environment: Create a comfortable and conducive environment for therapy by arranging seating, lighting, and any materials or resources you may need within reach. Eliminate potential distractions and ensure that you have a reliable power source for your device.
  • Prepare your mindset: Approach therapy with an open and receptive mindset, allowing yourself to be vulnerable and honest with your therapist. Reflect on your reasons for seeking therapy, your goals, and any concerns or questions you may have.
  • Review logistics: Familiarize yourself with the logistics of online therapy, including session scheduling, payment arrangements, and confidentiality policies. Clarify any questions or concerns with your therapist prior to your first session.
  • Complete intake forms: If required, complete any intake forms, questionnaires, or assessments provided by your therapist in advance of your first session. This information will help your therapist better understand your background, concerns, and goals.
By taking these proactive steps, you can feel more prepared and confident as you embark on your journey in online therapy.
