About Simone
Simone Ducloux is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who is passionate about providing treatment for depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, compulsive behaviors, and body image concerns. During her experience counseling adults in a community clinic setting, and her experience counseling young adults in a college counseling center, and her experience counseling adults in a community clinic setting, as well as young adults in a college counseling center, Simone developed a strong awareness of the important roles that creativity and self-compassion play in helping people connect with their strengths and trust themselves to work through challenges.
Simone completed her Bachelor of Music (BM) and her Master of Music (MM) in Piano at the University of Texas. She completed her Master of Arts (MA) in Professional Counseling at Texas State University.
Simone has a warm and attentive style and integrates clinical perspectives and evidence-based techniques from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), and person-centered/humanistic approaches into her practice. It can feel lonely and confusing to navigate through life’s difficulties in the absence of a therapeutic relationship with someone who can help you process your thoughts and feelings, and to connect with your inner resources, so that you may build skills to find meaning and worth in all of your experiences, as you work toward your goals.

"Therapy is a safe space for you to share openly about your concerns each week, explore different perspectives of problems, and make decisions based on what is most important and meaningful to you. "

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I wanted to involve myself in a profession dedicated to helping people explore who they really are, what they really want, and which thoughts and behaviors enhance their experience of valued living. I believe that helping others through connected relationships that are grounded in presence, acceptance, and growth is what helps us continue growing and learning, ourselves. I believe the counseling relationship is a model and experiential practice for the compassionate, dialectical, and emotionally-attuned relationship we must have with ourselves and others.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
Every small step you take in the direction of your chosen values is a victory because you are rewiring your brain each time.
What inspires you?
Emotions themselves inspire me. Sometimes I like to focus on one emotion at a time and imagine back to a time when I felt it…what was happening? How did the experience change me? Emotional awareness is often a large conductor of our most vivid and meaningful experiences. In the words of Dan Siegel, founder of Interpersonal Neurobiology, “Our emotions and our interests harness our attention and reinforce learning.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect that I will create a safe space for them to share openly, without criticism and judgment, about whatever it is they want most to talk about…whatever is causing them the most pain or confusion. They can expect to participate with me in this emotional, physical and thoughtful presence, involving curiosity, and even playfulness at times, which will serve as a core environment for the rest of our sessions on their therapeutic journey.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I spend a lot of my spare time keeping up with counseling-related research and seeking continuous education through professional trainings and podcasts. In the worlds of exercise, hobbies, and leisure, I love working out and swimming, practicing music and songwriting, attending concerts and plays, supporting local music venues and artists, and watching films and documentaries.
