Jeremy is a compassionate, person-focused therapist who loves helping individuals heal from their developmental and present traumas, mend their fragmented perceptions of self, and find unconditional self-love, self-empathy, safety, and skills for overcoming depression and anxiety.

Jeremy believes that every soul is of sacred worth and has profound potential to reach the very best version of themselves. Jeremy is skilled in working with adolescents, adults, and couples to assist them in finding the joy in life they deserve. Jeremy specializes in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, self-esteem, addiction, self-perception, attachment trauma, stress, grief, religious trauma, and adjustment-related disorders.

Jeremy completed his Master of Social Work at the University of South Carolina and his Master of Divinity at Ashland University and Theological Seminary. Jeremy's unique marriage of degrees and experiences has afforded him the opportunity to work with couples and individuals from a multitude of different backgrounds across several disciplines with different views and orientations utilizing a bio-psycho-social-spiritual model for understanding the human experience.

Jeremy is experienced in working in behavioral health in-patient and out-patient psychiatric settings in addition to addictions focused settings, hospice care, chaplaincy, bereavement, and various faith-based structures. This multi-tooled experience and approach is key to offering the kind of safe, meaningful, compassionate and inclusive therapeutic environment necessary for self-understanding and change. Jeremy utilizes treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Eclectic Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Somatic-Based Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy.

Perhaps the greatest gift is the one wherein we learn to offer ourselves the unconditional love, grace, kindness, and respect we deserve in the midst of the on-going challenges of day to day life. Jeremy is convinced that with the right tools, you will become equipped to manage your symptoms and circumstances and become the very best version of yourself possible. Jeremy will not tell you that it will be easy. But it will be worth it.

Get to know Jeremy

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I decided to become a counselor initially because I found that it was natural for me. I have always felt drawn to become a therapist/counselor and have always been fulfilled by offering gentle, loving, and empathic therapeutic support to those around me.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with clients who know they have a need and really want to address the challenges they face.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am most excited to work with clients who are open to new possibilities and who really want to get deep into understanding what makes them tick. I am also excited to work with clients who want to invest in themselves and find the best version themselves.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

I wish all clients knew that life is about progress, not perfection. I wish all clients knew that improvement in symptoms is not a linear ascent. Improvement is most often like a wave wherein we experience highs and lows.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose Thriveworks due to the obvious care for clients/patients expressed in their core values as well as for the well-being of staff.

What inspires you?

I'm inspired by people who love each other in spite of our many differences and backgrounds.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

Clients can expect to encounter a gentle and empathetic listener in our first session. In the first session, I want to learn about my client and offer them a place of safety and comfort. I want to learn about a client's symptoms, what their support structures look like, how they manage their symptoms and what their goals are. I also want to begin to develop a plan for how we will approach treatment together.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

Clients should know that I will meet them where they are in their journey and offer unconditional positive regard for them. Clients should know that I love what I do, I'm passionate about helping people and eager to see them and equip them to be the best they can be.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I love to tinker on my antique car and drive it! It's 93 years old!

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I have a sense of humor that gives me joy!
