Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I decided to become a counselor initially because I found that it was natural for me. I have always felt drawn to become a therapist/counselor and have always been fulfilled by offering gentle, loving, and empathic therapeutic support to those around me.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who know they have a need and really want to address the challenges they face.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with clients who are open to new possibilities and who really want to get deep into understanding what makes them tick. I am also excited to work with clients who want to invest in themselves and find the best version themselves.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that life is about progress, not perfection. I wish all clients knew that improvement in symptoms is not a linear ascent. Improvement is most often like a wave wherein we experience highs and lows.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose Thriveworks due to the obvious care for clients/patients expressed in their core values as well as for the well-being of staff.
What inspires you?
I'm inspired by people who love each other in spite of our many differences and backgrounds.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect to encounter a gentle and empathetic listener in our first session. In the first session, I want to learn about my client and offer them a place of safety and comfort. I want to learn about a client's symptoms, what their support structures look like, how they manage their symptoms and what their goals are. I also want to begin to develop a plan for how we will approach treatment together.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
Clients should know that I will meet them where they are in their journey and offer unconditional positive regard for them. Clients should know that I love what I do, I'm passionate about helping people and eager to see them and equip them to be the best they can be.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love to tinker on my antique car and drive it! It's 93 years old!
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I have a sense of humor that gives me joy!
