About Adam
Adam Sachs is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally-Certified Counselor (LPC, NCC) with more than 6 years of experience. He works with adults, couples, families, and children age 12 and older who are experiencing problems related to depression, anxiety, AD/HD, anger, substance abuse, relationships, work, parenting, and stress management.
He especially likes working with people and couples who commit to their treatment and goals, show courage and persistence in their pursuit, and strive to see a big picture for their life and to feel fully alive.
You may recognize your feelings or problems. But you may have difficulty identifying the root causes. Adam will help you examine beneath the surface to gain more insight and clarity, promoting healing, change, and progress. He will create an environment of safety, trust, curiosity, and acceptance as you explore challenging emotions and issues, and foster your hopes and dreams.
Adam recognizes the courage it takes to acknowledge you are struggling and want help. He encourages you to take the step to make an initial appointment. He will consider it his honor to work with you. Adam will commit to doing his best to meet you where you are in your life and help set you on your path to where you want to go.

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I became a counselor as a career change to help people find meaning in their lives, as well as increase meaning in my own life.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are seeking more insight into their thinking and behaviors, and who grow in their commitment to seeking improvements in their lives.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I like working with many types of clients, including individuals and couples. Demographics are not as important as a willingness, openness and curiosity to question things, gain insight and seek improvements.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that I do not have the magic potion for problem-solving...but I'll try to create the environment for the next best thing.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks is a company that inspires its clinicians to do their best work in an atmosphere of teamwork, collegiality, flexibility and independence.
What inspires you?
People challenging themselves to improve and to never give up; aspiring to something great that can only be defined by each individual.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
I will listen intently, ask many questions, try to make you feel comfortable, relaxed and heard; and most importantly, that I will care about you.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want an individual to feel that they can venture toward taking the chance to trust me, as trust may understandably take more than one session to develop. I want to get to know the individual as well as possible, and get a clear understanding of their reason(s) for coming to counseling and their goals for what they want to achieve through counseling.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Tennis, hiking; and desire to pick up the guitar again, which will have to be a 2022 New Year's Resolution.
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I need to have a source of motivation and a sense of meaning in my life.
