Chedva Berger is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in treating trauma, anxiety, familial and relational conflict, and life transitions, across a spectrum of diverse populations. Chedva’s myriad experiences give her compassion and a deep understanding of human experience.

Chedva completed her Bachelors in Arts and Sciences at Excelsior University and graduated with a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Rutgers University. Chedva seeks to establish an understanding and safe space to help you identify those beliefs and feelings that are holding you back from living the meaningful life you desire. Chedva will create a personalized treatment plan that meets your specific needs, using a client centered and strength-based approach. Her practice is psychodynamic, and attachment focused, and utilizes the Internal Family Systems model (IFS), EMDR, and mindfulness-based therapy interventions. Chedva also infuses other modalities into her practice to help meet each client where they are at.

Chedva believes that you may not be able to change your past, but you can change your future. If you are unsure about therapy, give it a try--you and your future deserve it!

Get to know Chedva

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I always had a desire to see people succeed in life, so I decided to become a part of their journey in getting there.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I enjoy work with the adult population across a myriad of presenting challenges.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am excited to work with clients who are motivated to help themselves grow.

What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?

That it is not your fault, that you are worthy to be loved. That you do not need to go through your challenges alone. That you know best deep inside what is best for you.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

Thriveworks is focused on improving their practice, so that clinicians can provide the best client care. As a therapist, that is what is most important to me as well.

What inspires you?

I really get inspired when I see people's perseverance and courage in the face of adversity.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

The first half of the session will be spent getting to know each other, and the second half of the session will be in intake format with questions geared to understanding your background and what brought you into therapy to seek help.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I want to establish a connection with each other, as well as a safe space.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I like to dance, enjoy nature, listen to music, and spend time with family.

What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I am an outgoing and compassionate person who loves to meet new people, immerse in their culture, and listen to their life story.
