About Emily
I am a Licensed Social Worker with 5 years of experience. I provide psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults facing challenges such as trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, life transitions, and identity development. I often work with adolescents, emerging adults, BIPOC communities, and individuals navigating cultural identity, family dynamics, and generational expectations. Many of my clients seek relief from overwhelm, disconnection, or self-doubt, and I support them in building resilience, fostering self-understanding, and creating solutions that reflect their values.
I earned my Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. In my work, I integrate cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and narrative and humanistic approaches to help clients manage emotions, shift unhelpful patterns, develop insight, clarify values, and cultivate self-compassion.
I understand that reaching out for support can feel daunting, and I deeply honor the courage it takes to begin therapy. In our work together, you will be met with compassion, understanding, and a safe space to share your story without judgment. My goal is to guide you toward growth, healing, and a stronger sense of clarity and connection.

"As a first-generation daughter of immigrants, I’ve learned that healing begins with knowing our stories, our struggles, and our strengths. Through that knowing, we open the door to growth, change, and solutions that honor who we are and where we come from."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a therapist because I’ve always been drawn to understanding people and helping them navigate challenges in their lives. I’ve seen how mental health struggles can impact not only the individual but also their loved ones, and I wanted to be someone who offers guidance, support, and a safe space for growth. I’m especially motivated by the opportunity to help clients build resilience, understand themselves better, and find strategies that empower them to live more fulfilling lives. Being able to witness someone’s progress and knowing I played a part in that journey is incredibly rewarding
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are open to self-reflection, as well as those who may be new to therapy or feel hesitant about the process. I aim to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where anyone can explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing isn’t linear, and it’s normal for progress to come with ups and downs. Therapy is a collaborative process, and it’s okay to have doubts, setbacks, or moments of discomfort—that doesn’t mean it’s not working. Mental health is a journey, and even small steps forward are meaningful. Being patient and compassionate with yourself is just as important as the work we do together in sessions.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming and nonjudgmental space where we’ll get to know each other and discuss what brought them to therapy. I usually gather background information, talk about goals, and answer any questions they might have about the process. In the early stages, we focus on building trust and understanding their unique experiences, while starting to identify patterns, strengths, and areas they’d like to work on. Clients can expect a collaborative approach where their comfort and readiness guide the pace of therapy.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is deeply informed by my values of empathy, respect, and collaboration. I believe that everyone deserves a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore their thoughts and feelings. Personally, I’ve witnessed—and in some ways experienced—the impact of mental health challenges and the transformative power of support, understanding, and validation. These experiences reinforce my commitment to meeting clients where they are, honoring their unique journeys, and helping them develop the tools and insight they need to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and self-compassion.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy by first getting to know each client’s individual experiences, strengths, and goals. I use a collaborative approach, adapting strategies and interventions to fit their comfort level, preferences, and pace. For some clients, this might mean a more structured approach with skill-building exercises; for others, it could be more exploratory and insight-focused. I also consider cultural background, past experiences, and any hesitations about therapy, making sure the process feels safe and relevant to them.
