I’m Deborah Auguste, LPC, a licensed professional counselor with a multicultural background and a unique career journey from engineering to counseling. I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, stress, grief, and life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, culturally sensitive, and practical. I help clients better understand themselves, develop effective coping skills, strengthen relationships, and move toward greater emotional well-being. For clients who desire it, I also integrate Christian faith into the counseling process.

My approach is collaborative and practical, using CBT and other evidence-based strategies to help clients understand patterns, manage emotions, build healthier coping skills, and strengthen relationships. I provide a culturally sensitive, nonjudgmental space and, when desired,  integrate Christian faith and biblical principles into the healing process.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, navigating change, or simply longing for greater peace and clarity, I would be honored to walk alongside you. When you’re ready, I invite you to schedule an appointment and take the next step toward healing and meaningful change.

"As a Christian with a multicultural background who transitioned from engineering to counseling, I bring compassion, cultural understanding, practical insight, and a faith-informed perspective to helping clients navigate life’s challenges and move toward meaningful growth. "

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

After many years as an engineer, I felt God calling me into counseling with a deeper purpose—to help people find freedom from emotional wounds, unhealthy patterns, and beliefs that have kept them stuck. My own journey through divorce and unhealthy relationships deepened my compassion and understanding of what it takes to heal and build healthier relationships. I became a counselor to empower others, offer hope, and provide a safe space where they can develop practical skills, discover their strengths, and move toward emotional, relational, and spiritual wholeness.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with adolescents, adults, couples, and families who are ready to better understand themselves, heal from difficult experiences, and create meaningful change. I especially enjoy supporting clients navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, stress, and selfesteem concerns. I also connect well with clients who value a practical, compassionate, and culturally sensitive approach, as well as those who desire to incorporate their Christian faith into the healing process.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

I wish every client knew that healing is a journey, not a race, and progress does not always happen in a straight line. Therapy is a safe space to understand yourself more deeply, develop new skills, and discover strengths you may have overlooked. Even small steps can lead to meaningful change, greater freedom, and renewed hope.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

In our first session, you can expect a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where we begin getting to know one another and exploring what brought you to therapy. I’ll listen to your story, learn about your concerns, strengths, and goals, and work with you to identify what you hope to gain from counseling. In the early stages, we’ll develop a personalized plan, build practical skills, and move at a pace that feels supportive while creating a strong foundation for meaningful and lasting change.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My faith, multicultural background, transition from engineering to counseling, and personal experiences navigating major life and relationship changes have deeply shaped the therapist I am today. I value compassion, resilience, authenticity, and creating a space where people feel truly heard and respected. These experiences help me bring both empathy and practical insight to therapy while honoring each client’s unique story, culture, values, and beliefs.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I believe therapy should fit the person, not the other way around. I take time to understand each client’s story, strengths, culture, values, concerns, and goals, then tailor our work using evidencebased approaches such as CBT, mindfulness, and practical skill-building. I adjust the pace and strategies as needs evolve and, when desired, thoughtfully integrate Christian faith and biblical principles into the counseling process.
