Get to know Tammy

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I became a therapist after experiencing and healing from my own trauma and knowing that it was my calling to help others to do the same.

What types of clients do you work with best?

Children, Adults, and Veterans.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

It is okay to not be okay sometimes!

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose to work at Thriveworks because they have excellent clinicians and offer excellent support for therapists and the clients they serve.

What inspires you?

I am inspired to see my clients become the best version of themselves and heal from the trauma that causes them pain.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

The first session is about getting to know you and learning more about what your goals are and interviewing me to ensure I am a good fit to help you meet those goals.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I want to learn more about you and find out what your goals are. There is no pressure at all to divulge anything until you are ready.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

I know that choosing to start attending therapy can be scary and is something that many put off for a long time before making that leap. Even though I cannot promise it will be easy, I can promise you it will be worth it.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, shopping, make-up/beauty/fashion, and traveling.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I love people and hope to do all I can to leave this world at least a little better than it was when I arrived.

Can you tell us about a success you had with a client?

I truly love watching all of my clients blossom into happy, self-confident, emotionally healthy individuals, and I feel honored to have been able to partner with them on those journeys. One mom brought her daughter to me who was struggling at home and school behaviorally, and the mom was lost as to what to do. During the first session, this little girl was quite obviously angry about her mom bringing her to therapy. That little girl came in last week and was so excited to report that she has had near-perfect days at school in conduct and her teacher now brags on her constantly to her mom.
