Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I feel that all roads lead to me being a counselor meaning that it was an organic process. I have noticed people being "drawn" to me, where they felt a comfort in my presence and wanted to tell me about themselves. I had someone ask me to be their counselor whiles doing customer service work. You can't ignore when everything co-sign you to pursue something that has came naturally and loved already. It made sense to continue to work with people which I have done majority of my life.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I have been very fortunate to work with a diverse population in one fashion or another. I am willing to work with a diverse client with various backgrounds. I don't have any particular client I work best with. I am excited to work anyone that is willing to work with me.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I like clients who are willing to do what it takes to make changes or at least work to making changes. I love working with motivated Clients who are willing to work on trusting the process and invest in their evolution.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish they knew the power of good therapy and the impact that it can make on their lives.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I choose Thriveworks for their reputation and support that I feel I need and will get from Thriveworks. In addition, to connection and support from other professionals.
What inspires you?
Guiding others to accomplishing their life goals. I love that I have something to contribute that has been proved to be effective and I have had the pleasure see work.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
I am huge with getting to know my Clients and building rapport. In the event there needs to be immediate intervention, we will work on identifying things that can be done to decrease some of the symptoms. Overall it is all about what you want to accomplish and client focused care. Your session belongs to you and your needs. You set the agenda unless you need support in creating the the agenda. I am huge in things happening organically in the session unless their is a need for additional support.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I would like to start the process of getting to know you and identify your needs. I would like to know the history of your concerns and any experience with other therapy experience. I would like to know what you tried and what has not worked for you. Certainly want to get an understanding as to your expectation of me and therapy.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I would like you to know that change is a process and investment on your part. I would like them to know the importance of being open minded and willingness to do the work that it is going to require.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I like to go hiking, go to the beach, spend time in nature and bike riding in nature.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I practice what I preach to the individual I serve. I am as real as it gets and understand the struggles of change personally. I speak from a place of experience and am truly able to relate.
