I’m Thandiwe Ballard, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with over a decade of behavioral health experience. I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, mood disorders, and life transitions. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized, helping clients feel heard while developing practical strategies to improve their mental health, strengthen relationships, and regain confidence and quality of life.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized. I combine evidence-based medication management with therapeutic strategies, education, and genuine connection. Clients can expect to feel heard, respected, and supported while working toward greater stability, confidence, and meaningful progress.
You don’t have to navigate this journey alone. I’m here to meet you with compassion, without judgment, and at your own pace. Your mental health matters, and meaningful change is possible. When you’re ready, I invite you to take the next step and schedule an appointment.

"I build genuine professional relationships by listening with intention, communicating openly, and creating an environment where people feel respected, heard, and valued."
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a psychiatric provider because I’ve seen firsthand how deeply mental health can affect every part of a person’s life. I wanted to create a safe, judgment-free space where people feel truly heard and understood while receiving compassionate, evidence-based care. Helping clients regain stability, confidence, and hope is what makes this work so meaningful to me.
What types of clients do you work best with?
All types, but especially those who are open to change and ready to make meaningful progress.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Change takes time, patience, and honesty with yourself, but with the right support and willingness to grow, meaningful progress is possible.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first session, clients can expect a welcoming, judgmentfree space where we focus on getting to know them, understanding their concerns, and identifying their goals. I take time to build trust, answer questions, and develop an individualized plan. Early sessions focus on creating a strong foundation, establishing realistic goals, and taking meaningful steps toward progress.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is grounded in compassion, resilience, and the belief that every person deserves to feel heard, respected, and understood. My years of experience in behavioral health have taught me the importance of meeting people where they are, building trust, and recognizing each client’s unique strengths while supporting them through meaningful change.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
Healing and meaningful change take time, patience, and honesty with yourself. With the right support, selfawareness, and willingness to grow, progress is absolutely possible.
