Good morning all,
I am new to this website and to being a counselor (received my CC less than 2 weeks ago!), so I ask the hive mind:
How do you effectively promote yourself and build your clientele?
Pro tips are great! Thanks, everyone!
I’ve written about this exact topic–marketing and promotion in private counseling practice. Here are 3 of my articles. I hope they help!
While I’m not a Counselor, I did step full-time into my Coaching practice a few months ago (woo hoo!) I definitely agree with what Michael has said about authenticity. From what I’ve experienced and noticed with other people, is that we often attempt to mimic what other people are doing to create success. I think it can be great to be inspired by others, but finding our own unique approach that fully expresses who you are is what it’s all about.
I know promotion can feel awkward, and I initially tried to keep my professional posts separate from my personal social media accounts. I’ve since ditched this and have firmly rooted myself in my purpose – which completely overrides ego. It allows me to remember that I would be doing a disservice to the world to not openly share my gifts. I focus on adding value, and stay focused on the mantra and belief that those that I’m seeking are also seeking me.
You’ve got this!!
In short — be your authentic self. One of my daily mantras/maxims is simple yet takes practice to be with.
Someone’s waiting. [or…someone’s willing to take their place]
Best to you and yours!
