Starting Sexual abuse therapy

What is Sexual abuse therapy?

Sexual abuse therapy helps victims heal from their abuse and trauma. Sex crime can take a number of forms, from the abuse of a child to the violent sexual assault of an adult. No matter what kind of experience you or a loved one has had, the trained providers at Thriveworks in Portland, ME will be ready to get to work on helping you find a path toward a better future.

How does Sexual abuse therapy work?

Sexual abuse therapy works by helping victims process and move forward from their traumatic experience(s). In addition, it helps one address and manage any resulting mental health challenges from depression to stress, anxiety, poor self-image, unhealthy eating patterns, and more.

Is Sexual abuse therapy conducted in person or online?

Sexual abuse therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and via Online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.

How long does Sexual abuse therapy last?

For sexual abuse, counseling in Portland often lasts for months to years. However, it can last longer or shorter, depending on the individual's unique needs.

Need more help deciding?

Being the victim of a sexual abuse crime is not something that should be taken lightly, or brushed aside. Even if you think you are tough enough to deal with the physical and emotional toll that this crime can take on victims, you should still consider seeking treatment from a professional therapist to ensure that your life is staying on the right track. Sex assault and abuse crimes are among the most difficult for victims to handle emotionally, and there is nothing at all wrong with seeking help to get through this traumatic event. We are proud to care for victims at Thriveworks Counseling in Portland, ME through our sexual abuse recovery programs, so we hope you will call to learn more if you think you or a loved one could benefit from our service.

It is an unfortunate reality that many sexual abuse victims experience a great number of issues in the months and years after the crime. Among the problems that are commonly seen in victims of this heinous act include the following:

  • Inability to maintain healthy personal relationships
  • Struggle to maintain good physical health – overeating or under eating, lack of exercise
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Mood swings, changes in personality
  • Inability to focus on basic tasks

Every part of your life can be affected in one way or another by the emotional damage that has been done through a sexual abuse experience. Instead of just going through each day without having the same energy and passion that you once had for your life, consider turning to help in our Portland office in order to work toward a better future. You don’t need to settle for dealing with the long list of problems above simply because you have been victimized – you deserve to get your life back on track, and we would be proud to help.

No therapy can be guaranteed to correct the issues that you are facing, but many previous sexual abuse victims have benefitted from the kinds of treatment that we have available. If you would like to learn more, or if you would like to make an appointment, please feel free to contact us soon. Our friendly team will be happy to work with you on designing a treatment plan that is well-suited to your situation. Thank you for your time, and we wish you the best of luck in your recovery.

My counselor was great and I adored him, he gets 5/5. I received my first billing statement on 1-16-24, the email saying I could pay in part or in full. I payed about a 3rd, and planned on doing the same for 2 more pay checks. Today, 1-31-24, I received an email thanking me for my payment. Their billing department withdrew the remaining balance, over $350 from my account without authorization. I only had $60 in that account. I work in private healthcare, and my practice would never collect without a clients knowledge and consent. If they won’t pay, we don’t use their stores info and take their money, we send to collections and let them do their job. I did try calling, auto it said wait time 20 minutes. I sent an email to their department at 1ish, didn’t hear anything back by end of business day.
